He's been out of ideas since Yeezus lol

Edit: Crazy to see this be the consensus. Ye did so much foul s*** even his fans are being objective.

what about his idea to fix wolves?

what about his idea to fix wolves?

    Stem Player exclusive

  • Foundation wise he can still come up with sum interesting stuff. Really it's the execution or his dedication to things that have gotten more questionable as years goes by. Plenty of his fans still comes up with their own edit for any of his projects, including the unreleased ones. For people to still be invested and thinking or re-imagining of what could have been is a testament to his artistry

  • I felt like this years ago which made all his behavior since the TLOP meltdown/red hat saga even more goofy. No conflict/his back isnt against the wall in some way = no interesting narrative for him to rap about
But i will say just as was the case in 2013-2015, the “character” of Kanye West is interesting enough to milk for a long time. He could have essentially been his own version of what Curren$y/Westside Gunn or even a Jay Z does
He also could genuinely go back to being the guy he sold us on being for the first three albums, socially conscious, musically innovative + forward thinking and humorous. Thats always an option nigga lol
The narrative of him acknowledging he’s on happy pills and fighting that battle of sacrificing being an interesting artist bc of it is an intriguing album narrative itself

  • His politics made more sense than the music post MBDTF

  • I guess u could say they bullied him into not dropping cuck

this was easy to see since like 2017-2019

He kept finding stupid s*** to try and turn into some grand injustice

Once being the outspoken backpacker conscious rapper (George Bush black people/rap is homophobic) was no longer counterculture he moved on to the shadow of the Taylor Swift incident persona. Once people forgot about that/have their own issues with Taylor Swift lol its the red hat/black people cant be republicans/Slavery is a choice type s***. And so on

“Soon as they like me make em un like me.”

  • I don’t get the hate for BULLY on this site cause to me it’s a return to form after the manic eras of TLOP - Vultures imo. It sounds like its own universe compared to anything else that’s around instead of trying mad hard to sound current.

  • Classique

at some point you give the music all that you have. if he didn't totally lose his mind he could have semi-retired as a more active dr dre or paul mccartney type figure

I wish he took that route but I think he wanted to be in the constant news cycle more then his love for the craft at some point.

He is the ultimate egoist for better or worse

Its the TLOP/Donda formula of just mashing up all the s*** we like that he’s already done

KING and Father could have been on Yeezus

The soul chop songs in the middle are aimed at those who love his first few albums

    So on and so forth

He’ll be lost until he completely commits to a sound and aesthetic again for an album, that he hasnt based a prior album around
I think Come To Life/Jail and OK from Bully Deluxe (!!!), those sound templates could carry a whole album

Also stop dressing like a f***in military helicopter repair man or whatever that aesthetic supposed to be lol

  • The only reason Ye makes music anymore is needing liquid capital or boosting public sentiment.

Right now we’re seeing a mix of both with Bully and the touring.

Hopefully once his money is back right he will just stop and focus on other s*** lol.

Dude should have got with Rick Rubin and figured out how to milk these Silicon Valley weirdos a long time ago.

Since MBDTF? You mean since CD

    Not really

CD thru Grad the themes were more about his progression in the rap game and touching on societal issues at large and in the black community. (Although alot of that had left in Grad the concept itself still fit within the trilogy)

808s is clearly about his breakup and losing his mom

MBDTF is the first time he did the canceled s*** but for it being the first time and the stakes at the time it meant something because he was actually at the peak of the game at that point

Yeezus was the last time he was trying something original

Everything afterwards were just ideas semi-fleshed out with a bunch of features over more trendier production

  • zenirama

I don’t think about him at all anymore

me too, it's crazy. I was at one point obsessed with him, around TLOP

King definitely could have been on Yeezus but it has its own flair to it. That texture could hold its on into a different album entirely. King reminds me of Michael Jackson’s Bad album. An album with the industrial spirit of Bad would have been an interesting direction for him sonically.

Yeah i’d take that right now

He honestly should just f*** around musically for a little bit like Future in the 2010’s lol without worrying about f***ing up his discography or prestige because its nothing he can do to take him lower than the past few years of behavior

  • Smacked Voodoo

    It was over after Yeezus.

it was the logical conclusion to his musical evolution anyways

  • Post TLOP. I would rank

    DONDA
    KSG
    Ye
    Bully
    JIK
    DONDA 2

But yeah those albums really ain’t got much going for them in comparison to his earlier discography concept wise

So the magazine cover with him wearing a crown of thornes and media & public backlash to that, and Kanye's infamous "I guess we'll never know" Grammys speech just never happened then

Like everyone else is saying, he pretty much emptied out his tank after Yeezus

SHMG era showed promise with Wolves, I Feel Like That and Only One. But it started to become clear that it was the first era that didn’t have true focus or direction

After that, most of his music was just half-assed ideas stitched together that barely hold the albums together.
And not to mention the steep decline in lyrics

Maybe but that’s absolutely fine considering the career he’s had, it’ll never be replicated and will go down in history as one of the greatest.

Everything from here on out is just a victory lap.
