Not only is it a sunnah, it is amongst the worthy acts of entertainment.
entertainment is appropriate in only three forms: Training your horse, playing with your wife, and archery. And whoever learns archery and then abandons it has rejected a blessing from Allahâ (Abu Dawud)
It also works on your upper body strength, balance, co-ordination and focus. Who knows we might go back to using swords and bow and arrows when technology ceases to evolve.

You don't leave a religion just because you're weak in certain aspects of worship. God hasn't created us to be perfect, if we didn't sin he would replace us with someone who would sin.
You're right for saying that rap music is haram. Mainstream music in general is. Even though the consensus is that music is haram, there are some big scholars of the past who disagreed if certain conditions were met.
