calling PND a GOAT is a reach
not at all
Maybe not GOAT but important for R&B in the 2010's for sure whether you like him or not. He was instrumental in helping push that underwater sound, the partynextdoor preset that every youtube and soundcloud type beat dudes were using. That's too iconic to leave him out the GOAT conversation plus his work with Drake, Kanye, Rihanna, Beyonce, Post Malone, etc it's not too much of a reach
PND is the Keef of RnB. His production and singing style was unconventional at the time and the mainstream didn't catch on to it til other artists made a cleaner version of it (Bryson, 6lack, Summer Walker etc) similar to Carti, Uzi, and Juice did with Keef's sound
i would argue that neither Party or the Weeknd are Drake's "son" musically
they just have a lot of overlap in sound
but they never aspired to follow in his footsteps
Drake's sons are people like Bryson Tiller, A Boogie, Jaden Smith, Trippie, & Juice WRLD to an extent
I think those are clones more than sons. They're his sons because he was directly involved with helping them find their footing in the beginning of their careers. Most sons don't end up following in their father's footsteps and instead find their own way. Clones want to copy someone's exact formula and replace them
thats actually tough @op but probably pnd1
id have to relisten to both, very special projects
Both are great. PND1 has incredible amounts of replay value like a playlist while KL you have to listen all the way thru like a movie soundtrack

absolutely
pnd1 is like a playlist you can just throw on any song
Crazy how both of these mothefuckas fell off
I can kinda agree with PND but his feature on Members Only shows some sign of growth but Abel fell off to you for real tho ?
PND 1 hands down
good times, i was just starting pre k
Crazy how both of these mothefuckas fell off
u didnt like Idol? Got some amazing Weeknd songs

He sucks
Feel like Iโm in the f***ing twilight zone when ktt talks about PND

Look at the songs you posted from Abel in the OP and now look at the type of music this guy makes now.

Idk bro I think Abel has dropped some of his best work in the past 3 years. You telling me AH, Dawn FM, and The Idol were trash ??

Compared to HOB, Thursday, EOS and Kissland
YES
Yes all those albums are a step back. The strongest out of the modern three is AH and I cant say I enjoyed AH more than any of his first 4.

idiot
he's a legend for his era but misses the mark for GOAT status as a solo artist
I think he's a goat Holistically in terms of the sound he pioneered, all the deep cuts (Church of Low Battery) and his sparse hits, and the songs he gave away like Work & Wild Thoughts, and S tier collabs like Members Only & Preach.
I think if you're a fan of PND and his sound, there's a case for calling him a GOAT
Damn nicely put, then HE is a goat. He went total opposite of Abels career, and I truly believe the sound in P2 could have grown to something bigger. I know he's not the bigger artist but he's my favorite, and he has a better voice and writing and better singles tbh

I see what you mean. I was not a fan of BBTM or Starboy when they first dropped cuz they sounded so clean and pop sounding but they grew on me. MDM, AH, DFM and The Idol to me was like he was trying to tap into the the Trilogy sound (Illangelo producing most of AH) while trying to make more of what made him mainstream with Max Martin plus experimenting with Mike Dean. His sound changed not his lyrics or aesthetic
