@GameBoi Howd you find this old ass thread lmao
Cubes pen is still top tier

I don't know how i found the thread must have been by accident. I like both Cube and Biggie and this was a nice thread and I enjoyed y'all takes and discussions lol

  • Jul 14, 2024

I can see why some people would say Cube

But I feel like only West Coast people would actually claim that

For me, being East Coast. I'm going biggie

  • Jul 14, 2024

    Both got hella hits

It Was a Good Day and Juicy are some of the most iconic/recognizable Rap/Hip Hop Songs of all time

  • Jul 14, 2024

If you can be objective, Cube is not a bad answer at all

  • Jul 14, 2024

Cube got the chance to make a lot more music.

Biggie covered a lot of ground in a very short time and flies off the charts on the "eye test" if such a thing exists in rap.

  • Jul 14, 2024

biggie ranks higher all time but i like cube more than biggie

Actually I like them a pretty similar amount

  • Jul 14, 2024

Kanye Biggie Cube Eminem and Jay Z were the rappers I listened to the most growing up

I didnt become a huge Pac fan until I was about 16/17

Not trying to glaze but Biggie literally the perfect rapper imo. He's got charisma, flow, bars, can flow on any beat, and has hella timeless hits.

Cube is a legend too but I think Biggie might be my favorite rapper ever. It sucks he died so young he probably wasn't even at his peak yet

  • Jul 14, 2024

    cube has bigger impact

also i hear cube outside more but obviously im on the westcoast - big only got two songs outside here and thats if you in the suburbs cuz niggas still mad at big, puff and jay z

Not disrespectful to say Cube better than ANYONE tbh. He's goated.

Wouldn't blame anyone for saying Cube > Pac, Biggie etc.

cube impact was huge and was legit the most succesful and popular rapper for like 2 years straight in the country

and the first rapper ever to break down territory lines

he also influenced nas and jay z directly and majorly

Crazy how even though they were around the same age 24/25 Pac seems like he did way more stuff/had a bigger overall career than Biggie.

He had more albums, did movies

Influence and legacy wise I think Pac and Cube is a more fair matchup.

people also forget big was also pacs "lil homie" and puff wanted to sign pac originally but pac ducked him while taking a liking to big and pac took him around places outside the east

big is gigantic out in east but wasnt as universal - but he would have been really really out of here in mainstream if he got another album or two

what big did tho in his few years is the most anyone has done, cant take that away - he just got taken away too quick

    rip

True to the Game is still relevant today sadly.

  • Jul 14, 2024

It absolutely is, people pretend they’re listening to Ice Cube daily but Biggie had a much sharper pen game

  • Jul 14, 2024

Cube gets underrated because of his acting career.

Even though I have Biggie ranked higher, I can totally see an argument for Cube.

Cube has more than 2 great albums. He's been the "brain" of the 80's NWA penning verses for Dre and Eazy on top of himself. He had great music on the Friday Soundtracks. Westside Connection and Da Lench Mob also made more powerful music together than Biggie did with Junior MAFIA.

Also, Cube touched on a much stronger diversity of social topics than Biggie. Biggie very rarely touched on societal matters. He mostly touched on his own life which is fine but more limited to what Cube was rapping about. I straight up can't even imagine Biggie rapping Death Certificate due to his lack of range.

But Biggie is still, imho, a much more compelling sounding emcee with a stronger mic presence, flow, rhymes, cadence, and song structures.

This is why I think Cube tends to get forgotten when it comes to the GOAT convo

How crazy you got to be to think Cube ain't better than BIG. He has done more for the game and has helped shattered barriers that were not seen in Hip Hop prior. Plus, he's a better storyteller too

Biggie's considered the GOAT essentially off one album...

Sure there's "Life After Death", but people turn to "Ready To Die" as one of Hip-Hops grails.

Cube has several classics, no doubt.

But if Biggie never died, this wouldn't even be a conversation.

I fw Big more but Cube deserves so much more respect than he already has rn. publications need to push him more in the top spots of their lists - the influence is undeniable

Cube got at least 3 grails too. And the one area where Big lacked is content which Cube excelled in. Big has a better flow but it’s also possible he could’ve went too commercial and fell off anyway. I think it could still be a conversation
