he did though lmao. Biggie had a song for every occasion: depression, street hit, pop record, shiny suit music, technical lyricism, storytelling, content for women, goofy sht, d*** dealing, etc.

The pop records, shiny suit records, and content for women basically fits in one bag, the content barely varies through those lol

Honestly his music was much more diverse than his content. The styles of songs he would make have a lot of variation but not really the content.

Cube easily touched on a wider range of topics, like for 9 out of 10 of the categories you gave for Big, the content boils down to bragging, s***or street s***. Cube has s*** about those topics but then also has a lot of songs with conscious s*** which big doesn’t have

    Cube's a legend.

But if Biggie never died, no one... I mean NO ONE would touch him.

Illest flow in the history of our culture.

    Made it look effortless too.

If biggie never died, his next albums would’ve probably been trash

His career was going to go one of two ways

Either he stayed with puff and went too far with the shiny suit s*** and dropped a watered down album

Or he leaves puff and then can’t recapture the magic

Then maybe around 2002 he comes back with like “Still Ready” and kind of recaptures the feeling but it’s still not the same

hell no he cant besides content and biggie more versatile at that

Cube a better beef rapper, social commentary rapper and had a better, more dominant run at the top of the rap game. He dominated early 90s w classic album after classic album and went platinum solo when that was super rare for rappers. Not to mention one of the faces of the rap Beatles lol Both top 5 all time. Cube the best rapper ever out of the west

It's not insane at all, OP.

I've always preferred Ice Cube over Biggie, the same way I also prefer Scarface over Biggie too. It's just personal preference.

Cube not even a better beef rapper and his run wasn't better than biggie's lol. Biggie was considered the goat after 1 album. None of cube's albums were as big as ready to die. Cube was like the best rapper alive for like one year

Biggie was a buttery baritone with an immaculate flow. Cube's impact and skill as a writer are unquestionable, but the musical quality of his stuff is a little rough by comparison. I listen to Cypress Hill more than Ice Cube.

Biggie never got in a staring contest with a sentient Coors Light bottle and said “now thats cold” so yeah

I see nothing wrong with that opinion

Anerikkkas Most Wanted through Lethal Injection is a crazy run

    4 back to back classics

Also Straight Outta Compton since he wrote most of it

  • Jul 12, 2023

I’m not nearly old enough to discuss this in a nuanced way, but it’s seems a somewhat inoffensive comparison, didn’t cube have writers though

Big is my goat rapper. But you talking about mfn Ice Cube here lol Cube inspired biggie and Pac. Y’all young cats see Cube as the corny movie guy who used to rap—he was the most feared rapper maybe ever when he was on his run. Whole coast couldn’t touch him until
like 94’ “hip hop started in the West, Ice Cube bailing through the East without a vest”

I’d argue Cubes music has aged amazingly. DC is my 2nd favorite Cube album. His most popular/best selling album was The Predator. AmeriKKKas went platinum too. He has a few massive all time hip hop songs, part of one of the goat groups—and he had a few classic songs in the early 2000s. Cube a certified 🐐 I been on his goat case for years lol

another mainstream album is one thing, but to act like Big would have just fallen off without Diddy is laughable. I remember reading he wanted his next album to have a jazzy Tribe sound so he clearly was open to more than just shiny suits.

Boyz N Da Hood, Straight Outta Compton, Wicked, Nigga You Love To Hate, Summer Vacation, Steady Mobbin, No Vaseline, Natural Born Killas, Gorillas In Da Mist, Bop Gun, Good Day, Dead Homies, Check Yo Self, You Know How We Do It, Do Ya Thang, Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It, Smoke Some Weed, Gangsta Nation, Hello etc..

That’s 3 decades of hits. Bow down to the West Coast 🐐
