A mixtape being released on streaming services and being available for purchase doesn't automatically make it an album. It just makes sense for artists to release their mixtapes digitally because we are in the streaming era and that's how almost 90% of all people consume music today. If this was 15 years ago, the mixtapes would probably be released for free like they used to be but times are different now. That's all it is.

Imagine an artist releasing a 7 track project and specifically calling it an EP and you insisting it's an album because you said so lmao.
