EVERYBODY has moments of self doubt. The greatest figures in any field of human endeavor all have moments when they feel less than. Some of the greatest athletes, musicians and businessmen/women have spoken on the times in the lives when they felt like they were inadequate. Even Drake admits to feeling like that sometimes. Cole just happens to be one of the few rappers not ashamed to admit stuff like that but trust that all your faves have felt that way at one point or another.

Yes moments of self doubt. But Cole been rapping like a cloud of self doubt has been following him for years.

Maybe that's just his headspace. Don't see what's so wrong about that.

Maybe because you don't like him as much as I do. The inferiority complex he has when it comes to Drake and Kendrick can be annoying as a fan

I don't think it's inferiority complex. We all just imagine that our favorite rappers must be confident at all times but they're human beings at the end of the day and they go through a range of emotions. Cole has songs where he's talking his s*** and saying he's better than everybody with utomst confidence but he also has songs when he isn't sure of his place in the game. I appreciate that and I can relate to that. I'm a pretty confident person most of the time but there are moments when I'm not and that's simply the duality of being a human being. You go through a range of emotions every single day. It doesn't make you weak, it makes you human.

Some other rappers are only one thing all the time and that gets boring because you know they feel other things but they aren't confident enough to express it in their music because it goes against the image they've built.

To me, it feels like he sees all the chatter people have about the 3 of them and their place in the game and internalizes it a bit. He may also genuinely feel like they're above him in various ways. Either way, he has a right to feel/think whatever he wants when it comes to that. I don't think we should try to police that. I always appreciate honesty in people.

if it’s been a consensus amongst fans for a decade that you were top 3 but always #3 and behind two fo your friends how would you feel?

It's either it motivates you or you accept defeat. Cole has the pen game to be higher than number 3

To be fair it's a well deserved cloud of self doubt. His spot in the 3 is the only one ever even debated, and not for no reason.

Especially because he was in the light before Kendrick. Kendrick used to drop lines about how much bigger of a star Cole was than him. "J. Cole running late if he don't show up, think I can take his place? Ladies start laughing"
