I realized this when Tyler Herro came out in 2020 but never made a thread so here you go

Drake about to pass the torch to him soon, he just came to his concert last night & invited him to his crib today

If Jack gets a drake feat , it’s over
He’s already 23rd most listened to artist in the world on Spotify (Kanye is 24th, for reference)

    No

Russ has more potential to be the next Drake than Jack Harlow.

Much like Drake he can both rap / sing and in Russ’s plus produce. He also makes music that appeals to both pop and hardcore rap listeners. Has international appeal, large female fanbase, single word name etc.

Jack does not have the versatility of Drake and can’t sing.

    That’s not a gimmick

The Druski stuff are skits. And they might make their own TV show/movie. You wouldn’t be able to do that from a Gimmick. It’s just comedy

The “sus stuff” isn’t a gimmick either, it’s just him making jokes and being funny and he has a tendency to lean on sus jokes. That’s no different than Dave Chapelle being a comedian and leaning on black people jokes in the sense that; it’s not a gimmick, but just a stylistic choice

Y’all don’t understand what a gimmick is so stop

you acting like the sus s*** and the meme dont contribute to his sucess if it werent for jacks personality hed be another kap g

My girlfriends cousin is like 17 and her and all of her friends are obsessed with Harlow. Idk 🤷‍♂️

The hate towards Russ has largely died down..

And you're acting like Drake was always universally loved. You do know Drake considered the joke of hip-hop for like the first couple years of his career right? Drake wasn't always loved by hip-hop as he is now and it took a while for him to be accepted. He was polarizing.

    Yeah, we were all there

Even when Drake was a joke, he was a joke, not actually hated

Russ is not as hated anymore like that man that was years ago .. you should pay more attention. The artists who hated on Russ have all fallen off.

Anyway all I'm saying is Russ is closer to being a Drake than Jack musically he has the ability to bridge both pop listeners and hip-hop fans. Russ is a way better rapper, singer and songwriter than Jack.

Musically Russ is more closer to reach a level like Drake than Jack because he can sing and rap he has already shown he can bridge the gap between hip-hop and pop. Jack is trash and does not deserve to be where he is imo. Labels love him because his marketable and white. I don't see Jack lasting. He's already lost momentum since Tyler Herro imo.

    That's all.

A gimmick is something done for attention that doesn’t accurately represent / portray who the artist is

Imagine if Drake made a video of him running into a store and just stealing something then saying Boonk gang

It would just be for attention and not accurately represent him as an artist.
Speaking of Boonk, that’s a perfect example of what happens when you build your entire career on gimmicks instead of branding

He was just pointlessly stealing stuff, recording it and posting it to go viral/for attention. If he had some type of message or reason for it that is bigger, like saying he is the Robinhood of The Hood and stealing from the rich giving back to the poor or something then it wouldn’t be a gimmick anymore

Point being, Jack having a funny personality just is who he is. He’s going to make those type of jokes whether a camera is on him or not. He’s just being true to himself. He’s not doing it for attention

  • nope

  • KalamariFromParty

He’s one of the only new generation artists that is known almost purely for his music. No gimmicks, no scandals, just bars

    ... jack Harlow no gimmicks.

not accepted sure but russ is definitely on the outside of the industry for a reason.

you can't be Drake without the industry
