How do you know they aren’t pretending to be reformed to get out?

What happens if your family member gets killed by the reformed serial killer after they get out - do you blame the killer or the reformation center that didn’t do their job?

Do you think Bin Laden or Hitler could have been reformed and placed back in society?

using the most extreme cases, which i suspect make up under 1% of people currently imprisoned, is not making a point. but yes, clearly these people are deeply disturbed and ill and perhaps we should be trying to figure out why, what caused it if anything, and if it can be helped.

I agree that most low levels crimes shouldn’t involve incarcerations like we see today. But snatching a life is a pretty egregious breach of our social responsibility.

Bin Laden and Hitler aren't similar but also I think we can make exceptions in cases where people are able to be charged with literal crimes against humanity/war crimes.

i don't have as much sympathy from people who are in positions of power abusing it.

And if not everyone is gonna he reformed do you decide that right when they’re sentenced to your “rehab centre” or is it case by case and you get them in there and see how it goes? Essentially does every prisoner have a chance at getting reformed and released or only some?

Rehabs/clinics have extremely mentally ill people who stay in them for basically their lifetime.

Some people don’t deserve it 100% for what they’ve done, gotta pay the price ya know

There ain’t a single therapist or psychiatrist on the planet that can say with 100% accuracy whether a killer has truly changed or is only pretending

And I’m willing to keep every killer that might have changed their life around in jail to avoid having the one that convinces the therapist that he’s/she’s changed only to be let out and kill more people
