@Synopsis Let's just start with non violent offenders all go to rehab facilities... Especially nonviolent d*** offenders.... You're jumping the gun a bit... Too many potential risks in eliminating all prisons... If just one killer gets let out of a rehab facility and kills again that's one too many.

    1. First, all non violent offenders, especially d*** offenders, wouldn't even have to worry about going to these facilities, unless they choose to do so in an effort to get clean if they aren't already. So if youre a dealer who hasn't committed murder or some other heinous crime, youre good to go. Same with all the d*** users, but like I said they can go to a rehab facility in an effort to get clean, and then I'm in favor of decriminalizing all d**** and legalizing where applicable.

    2. Have to include violent offenses. First because the main goal is to eliminate the conditions that lead to a lot of these offenses. For example if we're alleviating poverty, we're eliminating a lot of the causes of gun related crimes, robbery/burglary, etc., even things like car jacking and what not. Also we obviously end the incrimination of homelessness. Prison does these people no good, and they more often than not don't need rehab, they just live in a society where their class status makes crime a more likely alternative.

    3. Read here about the recidivism of murderers justicepolicy.org/uploads/justicepolicy/documents/jpi_definingviolence_final_report_9.7.2016.pdf

    themarshallproject.org/2014/12/04/the-misleading-math-of-recidivism

Now obviously as the second article points out there are reasons for this like age, and I do understand there is risk involved, but i've seen nothing that says this poses a greater risk than what we currently have. but i do know that prisons are a plague on our society.

Nah, not in my view. That is someone beyond saving in my view. Don't have faith in their treatment. But I'm not a mental health professional.

But you could have a medical expert examine them and give their opinion if rehabilitation would work or not. If they view this possible, then cool try it. If not, they need imprisonment.

Nope. Like I said, having a two tiered system would be more expensive but it would also create divisions. if for some reason they decide they can't be rehabilitated, they stay in the rehab facility. maybe in the future our understanding will improve.

Then the rehab facility would have it's own solitary confinement system then, which would be fine with me. as long as the mentally damaged/deranged killers aren't near others I'm good with it.

The reason I've become so clearly against the death penalty is because our system is fallible and we know with a fact that we've executed hundreds of innocent men on death row... I've even spoken with some fortunate to get freed through help from the innocence project and other non profits... I'd say... If you agree our prison system is fallible and you agree our overall justice system is fallible... Would you agree that therapists or psychiatrists can also be fallible? You would have to.. So under this system there's an increased chance of releasing a known murderer who maybe would have gotten life and them killing again... Would that be justice? No.. So what would be more just?

I don't think anyone has defended pedophilia though, more so just stating a fact, the state of being a pedophile isn't a crime, it's child molestation that is (rightfully so) a crime, this is also an example of why rehabilitation is so important in the case of pedophiles specifically as to ensure that no child is ever harmed.

ironically the only person itt that of my knowledge defended wanting to do things such as lower the age of consent is the same one calling for the death penalty
