Ok producers , lets talk about HOW u create texture. I want to learn.
equalizing is so simple but ive been paying special attention to it recently, really heavy compression does something nice too.
it's all in the sounds you use and what you do to manipulate them
for example
Clams Casino creates beautiful textures by lowering the fidelity on samples and adding reverb to kinda wash them out. Then adding some spacious modern-ish lofi drums to really create a crazy soundscape
But imagine talking to someone and saying "Listen to the vibe and texture of this James Blake song"
Yeah obviously I wouldn't say that to some casual music listener but people who are really into music or make music would understand

Of course
What’s yours I’ll follow u

Yeah u and @user right.
Been doing this and experimenting with textures in my own way. Its really fun n i have a lot of concepts 2 implement.
Flying Lotus introduced me to texturem i spent my first 2 years obessing over it .
astrothunder texture is so nice i think thats why i highpass n compress the f*** of my melodies now
assume form is still AOTY
the environment he created with that album literally takes you to a different place.
i still play it everyday
barefoot in the park, i'll come to, and into the red are some of my favorites
@aLIEN GET ITT
Even if his “bad” electronic albums are still stellar to just chill and sit back to
I haven’t listened to assume form front to back in a minute but that wasn’t it for me
Also If The Car Beside You Moves Ahead might still be one of the best singles I’ve ever heard 2119 music
Before EP was beautiful. that last album though… JB needs to bring back the prophet synths
Clarence Clarity
SOPHIE
AG Cook
Arca
Kanye West
all these are fine producers it's just..
idk what kind of person lists these people out of all the producers out there...
conjuring some kinda grody images lol.. flashbacks to the crowd at the drain gang show
Exactly. So important and also why Pierre beats are crazy
Wish there was a whole thread or section we could nerd out about these topics without trolls or niggas tryna be funny

yk if u got rid of the 2nd half of ur posts where u just complain abt how nobody's talking abt this seriously, u might realize that u, in this exact post, are talking abt this s*** seriously w other ppl.
Yeah your texture so to speak is basically the timbre of your entire soundscape
Aka how everything comes together to a single identity, and how each seperate thing means its own part of your sound
Travis Scott's autotune means one thing, his beats' chords mean another, his drums mean another thing and so on...but when it all comes together it becomes Travis's texture.
Aspiring producers especially need to get the importance of a distinct "texture"

in general on this site niggas did and do that
in general on this site niggas did and do that
why complain abt what others are doing? especially when that gets in the way of u being satisfied w what ur doing?
"i wish we could have a serious discussion about this stuff and I'm so sick of people not taking it serious" said the guy having a serious discussion about said stuff
@t3st1ng you’re bored as f*** my nigga lol you replying to a three year old thread saying niggas don’t need to be interested in discussing music production techniques lol
but to get into it, niggas not having a unique “texture” / sound selection (or rather the mainstream or those type of rappers/executives/listeners not really being receptive to new sound selections) in rap is why the few people who stand out stand out now and why everything kinda sounds the same. Timbaland Mannie Neptunes all had drastically different things that composed their sound selection probably simply because their keyboards of choice had different presets. That kinda dies when we all just using the same VSTs and kits

why r u going on to tell me abt what texture is u bonehead
the texture s*** is like producing 101. ut doesn't get discussed that much because why tf would anyone who takes this sht serious have to talk abt it? the texture of a song is processed and recognized when u hear it! and us producers, we listen for that s***! we don't need to lay it out in words, we hear it!
also for the record u can get vastly different textures using the same vsts
