Edit: nvm, sounds like the comedy didn’t click with them and they expected more horror with social commentary like Get Out and Us when this is being more compared to Spielberg/Shyamalan type horror-comedy blockbuster. I can see why it’s divisive with past work in mind going in

Yeah I’m curious to see that aspect of the movie. Perhaps if you aren’t on board it will only be more disappointing. Although I’ve read good responses to the reveals in the movie so guess I’ll see tomorrow

My issue with Us was the tone. Liked the concept but the comedy felt out of place at times when half of the movie is asking you to take this situation very serious and then another half is saying haha look how funny and crazy this is.

Get Out’s comedy worked 10x better to me

Kind of assumed it would be more Close Encounters than, say, the ending of 10 Cloverfield Lane based on the trailers.

I don’t know, the latter seems like what every other alien invasion movie released today would be so clearly Peele would not go down that route.

I just don’t think modern mainstream audiences are really able to appreciate slow-burners or “less is more” type films nowadays (at least concerning horror/thrillers).

I love the idea of movies actually playing out and when the big sequences happen,they happen in a big way. I'm really not interested in action only,no real character development type movies,give me character development and buildup

Its an odd movie forsure,i think thats why its kinda unsettling to me. Alot of out of place moments its almost like the family/not tethered are supposed to be campy to an extent
