Jul 27, 2022Caught this last night, great movie. Daniel and Keke were excellent and the UFO scenes look incredible on the big screen. Funnier and less horror than I expected, but as a sci-fi thriller I think it accomplishes what it sets out to do and subvert expectations in a good way
Lots of interesting themes to look out for on rewatch about consumption, fame, its corrupting nature and the lengths people will go to achieve it
The weakest point for me is the big reveal, which I found a bit underwhelming
Get Out is still #1 IMO but after one viewing I think I like this more than Us

Oscar WinnerFather Stu is actually an interesting one because it has a 43% on RT by the critics but a 95% from the audience. That’s a big f***in difference.
And the critic score is only based off like 100 reviews whereas the audience score is based off 1000+
Idk kinda makes me think the system is very flawed because that 43% is wayyy more recognizable than that 95%

The international market is where black filmmakers meet a lot of resistance. The international distributors / sales agents
always say non A list black films don’t sell - shutting down so many storiesDefinitely a strategic move by universal to buildup american buzz before an international debut
