Loved this but at times it did feel like two different films. The alien plot and the Gordy plot. There’s obviously a connection but I couldn’t help feel disconnected when it switched to the Gordy segments

Angel was chilling with the imax cameras they had been filming with. They were the very large ones that it took both of them to refill just earlier. Cinematographer noticed the lighting was about to be better, and sacrificed himself (with a different camera) to get the “impossible shot” with the golden hour lighting. Presumably all cameras were sucked up shortly thereafter. But cinematographer was not trying to sabotage their footage or anything, he was trying to get additional better footage.

That said, they didn’t do a great job displaying what was happening in that sequence, it was pretty confusing

Within the context of the movie, his farm is quite literally being terrorized and ruined by an unknown predator that is out of his depth. His "mouths to feed" ideology is misplaced. We know that he wants to continue his father's legacy and the deeper meaning of black ppl especially in Hollywood in the early days being restrained to the circumstances in which they found themselves in. He "can't" leave. But he IS his fathers legacy. It will continue with him and his sister.

But....he's also (according to ppl who liked his character) a well written person. And if that's the case then I think it's not good writing to have your well written character purposefully stay in an EXTREMELY dangerous situation simply because "muh fatha"

i’m too stupid on a***yzing film so i just understood it as a tribute to old school monster movies but it seems that it runs deeper

i just wish we could’ve seen more and learnt about the creature itself

this was a disappointment too since they showed this specific clip a lot

100% same. We literally got more lore for the Cloverfield monster than we did for this one
