Cause as a super long shounen fan it is very obvious that gege was heavily inspired but also tried to improve upon his inspirations especially in terms of powercreep and consistency.

My mans Ichigo does dna tests to unlock new abilities he has never heard off before. Or the sharingan being an infinite amount of new OP abilities whenever sasuke needs new powerup. I mean Madara still gets s*** from being defeated by black zetsu tbf. But there is like endless examples in old shounen because honestly authors should not give a f*** about constantly pleasing nerdy powerscalers that rank Deku from my hero academia as being faster than light.

And once again I dont mean to say the old ones are bad anime I was just giving examples. They had plenty new ideas and also developed the genre to the point where they inspired gege who then also development new ideas based on their groundwork. Its all great.

I'd say the reason I like JJK and that some people might find it hard to follow is because the techniques themselves can be quite technical, then you add general nuances and ways of augmenting some of these techniques and you end up with guys and girls like in the video. These people are gonna hate some of the upcoming fights when they hit in the anime lol

There's also just the fact that people on SM need to create content so this just might be a case of talking heads just talking for the sake of it

This is a thing tho and not something to disregard. Most of the ppl I’ve seen on the internet and talked to in person didn’t understand what Geto did in the last episode and how. Some of the fault is in the anime skipping on some explanations in the manga but the intricacies of the power system is fairly complicated. No one with a straight face is going to say they didn’t get lost in the Culling Games.

I consider those instances more about being info dumped rather that the system being complicated cause even as a manga reader i had to re read that Geto part and the culling games rules but as far as i remember it had nothing to do with the power system but more about the amount of information being layed out straight after shibuya but thats my personal case

Sure dont see exactly how they work. Its similar to greed island from hxh. However if you think about it he gege layed out a LOT of framework and build up to it. From the barriers getting stronger via the restriction of other people. Tengens barriers. Sukuna being reincarnated from cursed items that have a soul. The cursed wombs coming from Kenjaku. Junpei being idle transfigured into a sorcerer.

I think it absolutely masterful how much build up the systems of the culling games and gojo vs sukuna have gotten till it was the time. Honestly I dont think there are many shounen that have done something like that. Its more nuanced here but its imo pretty much on par with what Fullmetal alchemist did with its conspiracy.

I mentioned the power system because it requires you to know Mahito’s abilities and what he did in S1. Like him being able to turn ppl into sorcerers like Junpei through transfiguration. At least that’s what a noticed ppl missed among friends and on the web. Again this isn’t a slight as the groundwork is there but acknowledge the problem because the power system isn’t as clear cut as ppl need it to be and that’s where they get lost.
