I don’t think anyone outside the military should be able to get their hands on an assault rifle

Pistols, whatever it’s for protection. Standard Rifles for hunting, I’m not a fan of hunting but if that’s what you do go ahead.

Personally I’m not a fan of guns but other people should be able to get one if they 1.) Have 0 criminal history (talking violent offenses, other felonies)
2.) Pass super super extensive background checks and mental health screenings
2a.) Have to have routine mental health screenings

Getting rid of all guns is unrealistic and will never happen in our lifetime.

Semi-automatic weapons should be banned, the age to buy guns should be raised federally, and mental health/background checks required federally though.

Look, if AR-15s were restricted (whether full-on from civilian usage or partially limited as in CA, CO, and NY), it wouldn't be the worst thing that could go down. It'd be s***, sure, but not exactly completely awful. And I say this owning two of them with 30+ round mags

America is the number one country in the world for mass shootings and that is partially because the amount of access people have to guns and which guns they have access to.
