Why are you saying wtf? Do you not know how to read?

You are typing on KTT in the comfort of your own home, most likely, complaining about poor getting poorer.
The fact that you have internet shows the poor get richer, historically. Bc even having access to the internet and devices capable of using internet used to be reserved for rich people and now poor people have that luxury as well

The same goes for... Just about everything else in the 1st world. When the rich get richer they usually bring the poor people along with them. And being rich or poor isn't a stamp you have for life: some rich people become broke, and some poor people become rich. It's just a matter of time and perseverance (in the USA, at least)
Edit: Time, perseverance, and competence / intelligence

social mobility is on the decline while wealth inequality is rising. that is the literal definition of the "poor getting poorer" and means that being rich or poor IS slowly becoming a stamp you have for life.

not an inevitability but its a trend that is cause for alarm

How could people in 2016 say the same thing... It's literally not possible bc Trump was not already president for 4 years

Every president that has had 2 or more terms usually gets better during the 2nd or more terms. They learn from their past 4 years and build on it

No, people said that nothing could get worse with trump in office than other presidents

Well his first term is not something that should be built on, near the end of 1st and possible 2nd term, he had the biggest fumble of his presidency

"No, people said that nothing could get worse with trump in office than other presidents"

Those people saying that... Is not the same as what I said. Those people saying that is just based on how they feel. Me telling you that, historically, presidents tend to get better in their 2nd term is just a fact that you can look up. Does it mean Trump is destined to follow that trend if he were to be re elected? No. Anything can happen. But I just think it's more likely he has a better next 4 years than his first 4 years if he were to be re elected

Also I already addressed his presidency from January 2020 till now. You can go read what I said about how he has handled Corona and the protests. Recency bias makes ppl judge his presidency only based on recent events instead of looking at the entire 4 year span as a whole

If you can't name 1 good thing Trump has done for America in 4 years then there's no point in even having a conversation with you bc you obviously can't see the forest for the trees

And u can fault him for corona, have u seen how other countries handle it compare to the u.s ??

And ur tryna give him the credit for unemployment when that was a following effect of Obama's term

How should we expect trump's "2nd term" to be better when he's ending off the first one worse than he started it

social mobility is on the decline while wealth inequality is rising. that is the literal definition of the "poor getting poorer" and means that being rich or poor IS slowly becoming a stamp you have for life.

not an inevitability but its a trend that is cause for alarm

And how do you propose we fix that trend? Taxing the rich even more than we are now? Forcing private businesses to pay "liveable wages" to public citizens?

None of that is going to change things long term. The only fix is education and the internet has already been around for 20+ years. People would rather watch Tik Toks or argue on a forum dedicated to a celebrity than try to figure out how they can move up the social ladder and / or become wealthier. That's the problem with freedom. Freedom allows people to choose to not really do much. And you can't force them too. But now the people who decided to do a lot, are being punished for it. Lol
Maybe social mobility as a whole is getting worse, but I guarantee you there has never been a time in history where you could become very wealthy in a short amount of time as you can today. I could give you hundreds of examples but I think you probably already agree with that statement. If it's true that it is easier to become wealthy in a shorter period of time today than ever before, just bc a lot of people aren't doing it doesn't mean our problem is necessarily with "the rich getting richer". The problem is moreso with the culture and values of the people. A lot of people don't give a f*** about social mobility or being wealthy and don't care to work minimum wage for the rest of their lives. And even the people that are complaining, they are usually not taking advantage of the resources available to them to change their lives for the better for whatever arbitrary reasons they have. But hey, it's a free country so that's their choice
    But don't blame the do-ers

American capitalism puts a veil over people so they start to think that x amount of work/effort will get them a certain place in society regardless of where they start and it's plain wrong, systematically

Read the entire thing. The conclusion you should draw from that is that, presidents actually don't do better in their first nor 2nd term and that's it all just the same really

It's not wrong at all actually.
    That is just statistically true.
Saying "certain place" is vague, but, replace that with "better place than you were in before" and yea.. It's true
Ppl like you will probably say that money is more important than work/effort, which is ironic bc money is just our social way of valuing and trading work/effort in a numerical way. So money is the same as work. Just bc you get a lot of money you didn't work for doesn't mean that somebody didn't work for it

Other countries aren't set up the same way as the US. Should Trump have put the country under Martial Law and forced everyone to stay home? The good and bad thing about USA is the freedom afforded to its citizens. We were free to go outside and do whatever we wanted, and the irresponsible ones of us did exactly that instead of treating it seriously

When states reopened recently, how can you blame that on Trump? That was literally up the states to decide. Most other countries don't have a federal and state system like we do, so you should be comparing each state to those countries instead of the entire US to them

Anything bad that has happened, its Trump fault. Anything good that has happened, it's bc of Obama or other people. Anything that happens during a presidents term falls on that president. Obama didn't get any slack for having a s***ty economy coming into the presidency. Every waking moment that the USA wasn't getting better it was seen as his fault, and even though it really wasn't, that's just what comes with the job

It’s Trump’s fault because most of the states reopening and having surging in cases are red states. He politicized this whole issue into a left vs right, so the red states are going to follow in his footsteps and downplay the virus.

Trump is a BAD president, and is very divisive no matter how simple an issue. No way around it. All he had to do was let the doctors do the heavy lifting and just unify America

Also... Just bc people can cite more bad than good has nothing to do with anything. People remember more bad things than good things. Just human nature. Survival instinct.
You can name more bad words than good words. You can remember more bad things happening to you in your life than good things.
That's also another bias called negativity bias
Not to mention the social media and traditional media environment that we live in today that only shines light on bad things happening rather than good things

    perfect meritocracy is a myth.

an individual born into a family struggling for healthcare, affordable housing, strong public ed, and jobs paying a living wage cant just "become rich".

exceptions that grew up in poverty and come into good money are just that ... exceptions. i know this well because i am one.

you sound privileged and misinformed. read more before you blame systemic poverty and inequality on TikTok.

edit - statistical trends say the opposite of basically everything you asserted so this isnt a question of perspectives but basic facts.

Why do you say "just become rich" as if that's what I said?
You're trying to sarcastically say that I'm trivializing it when I never did. I never said it was easy but it is simple, yea.
If you are an American citizen, chances are you are already rich. Rich is only a relative term. If you make 30k a year you're already in the top 1% of the world's richest people.
So people complaining about other people being richer than them while they have the means to become wealthier themselves... Nah, I don't feel bad.

And what statistical trends are you talking about? We're talking about why things are happening not necessarily talking about what is happening. When you see a statistics showing the rich getting richer and poor people getting "poorer", you see that as supporting evidence for your argument but I'm not even debating the happenings of that. I'm just talking about why those things are happening. So what statistics do you have showing why people are the way they are?
