This the first time I’ve seen someone try and give reasons

They did not do a good job

    WTT was following BP3

That album was a smash hit. Niggas think bc they dont like the album his career was in the gutter lol

BP3 sold 476k first week I think MBDTF did 496k they was literally on the same level thats what made the album so special

People who say this weren’t tapped in at the time, Assuming they’re young

Nobody at the time thought “Wow Kanye’s saving Jay with this one” lmao

They treating Hov like Ty or PND

He sold 400k on American Gangster 2 years before with 0 Kanye credits

Why are yall acting like he needed Kanye for sales? How did Kanye save him just because they were collaborators

Yall can say he helped Jay Z for sure but saved him is craxh

It was literally just 2 of the biggest rappers making an album

I have seen it be said that Ye saved Twistas career though lol. Not sure if there’s validity to that,

But I think this Jay Z narrative is definitely new

    Save is a weird word
He just helped launch him into mainstream. Twista was sort of an underground sensation off the fast rap.

I always see people say that

I don’t think they realize he only did 4 songs

He produced 1/3 of the songs which is more than anybody else on the album but it’s still overstated

Niggas on this website act like Hov isn’t even a top 25 rapper lol

  • When you hear ktt speak on Hov, you'd swear he was an underground rapper just before WTT 😂

Jay actually didnt overly depend on Kanye at all

Hes released several albums without Kanye on them during Kanye’s peak willingly. Niggas act like he put Kanye on every hit single he had

  • Kanye probably assisted Jay z’s image at various points but I’m not sure if he ever solely was responsible for saying his career

I think the impact may be bigger than what some posters are saying but less than the op is saying

Kinda reminds me of gambino mentioning b&b. Sure the song was big before he did it, but it definitely helped

His discography iffy but the good stuff is upper echelon tier rap material plus just the fact that he’s that good with one take freestyling is a feat in and of itself

Man no his discography isn’t iffy

BP2 has too much filler and Kingdom Come is bad

If you wanna say vol 2 & 3 aged bad then alright but vol 2 especially was a major album for its time

The rest of his discography is fire

Ye starting the “palette” for the blueprint is arguable

Bink was also chopping up soul at the time. Both accused Just Blaze of copying them

Nah it's not arguable. It's documented history that Ye's beat tape is what started Blueprint

Go through his catalog and take out the kanye songs. "Saving" is obviously hyperbolic in today's time when everything is either goat or woat, but I think it's fair to question if Jay becomes a global star without those songs
