pureaswaterThe low-fi, dry mixing works for me. I’m sure there are technical aspects that are driving audiophiles nuts, but Ye has been going for this stripped down style for years. I also don’t think it’s a coincidence that the album art is a vinyl record and the mixing is super dry.
A lot of great artist get looser and looser with their art. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I’d image Kanye felt like he mastered “playing by the rules”, being able to construct perfect albums, and it’s probably refreshing for him to get a little loose with vocals and song structures. If you look at a lot of great artist “mature work” it presents as less formal or “perfect” than their earlier work. Learn to play by the rules so you can break them, and I think that started with Yeezus for Kanye.
And “Follow God” is straight fire.

FREEWow I disagree but I can actually see why you would feel that tbh.
Yeezus is such a focused chaos album whereas this is messy yet purposeful.
Lyrics & Production better imo.
Honestly only a handful of songs I like on Yeezus.
