all he said was "I'm going DEFCON 3 on the jews". Was he talking about all jewish people? I mean, i think its pretty obvious he wasn't. All he really said was "I'm going to be very wary of a certain group of Jewish people". So the technical truth is that he didn't actually say anything bad about Jewish people.

That being said, he knew what he was doing. Even though his statement is technically fine, it definitely invites actual antisemitic rhetoric. If you said "I'm gonna be super wary of the Chinese people", that's inviting someone else to say "yeah you can't trust those chinese people", which is definitely a racist statement. It's a dog-whistle technique, he's not saying anything directly f***ed up, but he knows what the Q folks will hear when he says what he says.

the truth is, Ye used latent antisemitic sentiments as a tool to launch his campaign. That doesn't necessarily mean he believes antisemitic rhetoric (actually, I don't think he's got anything against the general jewish population at all). That doesn't mean he's off the hook though, just because you're not antisemitic yourself doesn't mean it's cool to use antisemitism to your advantage.

TLDR: The libs are wrong. Ye's crime isn't antisemitism, it's the use of morally questionable political tactics. The conservatives are also wrong. He's not innocent of wrongdoing, he's guilty of using morally questionable political tactics.

I don't think that means he actually agrees with any of those people. I'm pretty sure it's more a political chess move than anything else. Dude's using antisemitism as a political tool, and that's f***ed up but it doesn't mean he's antisemitic himself.

It's entirely possible that he uses this to grow his campaign, but then drops it, more or less, when he's gotten what he wants out of it. I mean that's just textbook populism. You can't discern a populist's actual beliefs from what they say/do to get elected.

Look, do I think Ye is the next Hitler? No, but I don't see the point in giving him the benefit of the doubt regarding any of this, this newspaper extract from 1922 is always something to think of when it comes to stuff like this.

If Ye campaigns on an anti-semitic platform due to the influence of these scumbags, there's no real material difference between it coming from his true feelings or not. My personal view is that Kanye is definitely anti-semitic to a degree, and being employed as a useful idiot by people who are REALLY anti-semitic. I don't think looking at the mass of insane behaviour from him in the past 2 months and assuming he probably didn't mean it is a reasonable stance to take at this point. Remember 'red media'? This man is fully immersed into 4chan-level racism right now

I'd say wait until Kanye makes his actual policies clear before deciding that it'd be a bad thing for him to win. It doesn't seem like he's running a typical republican campaign, so who knows, maybe he'll surprise us all and do some based s***.
