Kendrick is mad overrated. New album is nice af tho and Kendrick gifted the culture maybe more than any rapper ever has this year. Kendrick sees the whole picture when it comes to the music and the game and no one else does. Kendrick really ain’t had a single misstep in his entire career in a lot of people’s eyes
Wayne got bars for days but a lot of garbage too and it’s sad that he doesn’t have a single certified front to back classic cause the skill level is/was there
He has 3,4 mixtapes that are pure, pure rapping greatness. Why does a hiphop forum not realize this?

Even Kendrick realizes it
Wayne’s prime will never be touched but if we looking at all the metrics, overall I’m gonna give it to Kendrick. Love Wayne but his fall off was diabolical, tapes and albums full of terrible production and terrible bars did serious damage to his GOAT case
I think more people need to appreciate Kendrick's longevity and consistency. 15 years into his career, he's hitting another commercial peak. 15 years after Wayne's debut, he was putting out some of the worst music of his career. He burned out really fast.
It seems increasingly likely that Kendrick will be more esteemed than Wayne over time rather than the other way around, based on the direction their careers have gone. Not all of that is Wayne's fault, by the way.
Wayne put out the same amount of songs kendrick ever did by like 09
If Kendrick had a better voice, I’d say he had a better career. A lot of niggas I know who don’t like KDot for some reason always bring up not liking his rap voice
Wayne and Kendrick are both top 10 OAT. But putting Kendrick above Wayne? Idk that’s a tough one. Not sure I could do that… yet

Wayne's prime was crazy but one could argue Not Like Us into this album is as high a peak
What makes Wayne a better careerist can someone explain to me
I think you just had to live through both eras to really understand.. Both are absolute legends. But, Wayne has been making a huge impact since he was like 15-16 with Cash Money.. Legitimate hits that can still be played today and turn up crowds.
Then people at that time tried to downplay him and new york and other east coast rappers tried to make fun of him.. What did he do? He refined his entire style and left not only his lable mates in the dust, but like 90% of rappers too. His shift was incredible. Most rappers start off hot and die down.. This guy just got better and he is arguably better in his later years then even at his height in terms of word play and flow.
There was a time when I would come home everyday from school to a new lil Wayne track and it was fire. I don't think we will ever see anything like that again.
Having that said, Wayne had his ups and downs, has song writting issues and his albums have suffered because of it. But you cannot say Wayne's career isn't amongst the best of all time. His impact and work ethic is undeniable.

The overall quality of the music is still all over the place. I never realized until now how different Wayne and Kendrick are in that way. Kendrick thinks about everything. Wayne freestyles over whoever’s beats and lets other put his projects together. I love Wayne he does have a lot of goat material, but I’m not listening to any Wayne project front to back. Carter 2 is his closest to a classic but I think only cause it’s easy listening and has a consistent theme and feel through out. I think Kat Food is immaculate rapping, Wayne still has it in him today

Have you listened to some of his mixtapes? Some of them are literally perfect from front to back. Literally immaculate
The unofficial leaked carter 3 mixtape is insane. And that s*** was throwaways

yeah I can't personally put one artist over the other because they're so different in every way, but Dedication 2 and Da Drought 3 are absolutely perfect
which is insane considering their length

100% theyre so different, I respect that position a lot. But to say Wayne has never put out a consistent mixtape/album other than carter 2 is just crazy
Wayne's prime was crazy but one could argue Not Like Us into this album is as high a peak
Not even close lol

recency bias

Don't do this
"new rap generation" is insane when kendrick been around for a decade plus
The new generation of hip hop fans isn't even following the Drake/Kendrick beef, they're too busy taking fentanyl and listening to Nettspend. Kendrick is boomer ahh unc music to them
It’s funny because Wayne was super hated also back in the day
By the Internet.
He was pretty loved outside of that.
Wayne had very vocal fans irl who would argue that he's the best rapper alive.
