Yes it is. He just broke 600k less than a year ago.

    That’s a fact

If you’re going to judge his commercial arrow by this album and not his flagship series then sure, but you know and I know that wouldn’t be accurate and would be disingenuous as hell

    If we being honest here

You look at demo tapes, you look at HN, and you look at CLB…what’s the difference?

Exactly. I think, until the rap album shows a significant dip then we simply aren’t there yet

Again CLB shattered s*** and that was not even a year ago bruh

I’m not arguing Drake’s CLB success.

I’m arguing what the meandering success of H,N would mean for any album he releases from that point.

A year ago bundles were still legal as well so that only fuels what I’ve been saying about that.

Not surprised most of the posts itt are about Drake.

    Drake sells well
    “Sales dont matter” - niggas

Someone else sells better than Drake
“Sales matter” - those same niggas

A lot of narrative pushing around Drake just because niggas are mad at his success and the fact that he has fans who never fail to acknowledge it. Really pathetic when you think about it.

true but beyonce has been making music since the 90s those numbers are good for the time in her career.back to 400k will be good depending on what the next taylor or adele albums does.if he has top sellling alum that year then yeah maybe. but also this drakes transtioning to a legacy actt now so less first week sales but it well a lot over time due to his core fanbase

Not everyone has a gradual decline tho.

We’ll see but even Adele’s numbers took a hit this time and Beyoncé has def underperformed so it seems to be an industry wise thing.

So to be clear, you’re using Honestly nevermind as the predictor for his future success, and not the rap artist’s rap album that dropped 9 months ago?

    Right?

This is silly bruh. I’m not even saying you’re wrong, but we simply aren’t there yet.

    Am I tho?

Or is that all Drake stans have left to defend him selling 60% left then his last album?

    Yes you are.
Nobody was pushing this narrative when DLDT sold almost the same amount as HN and that was an actual RAP álbum.

Not sure why yall acting like the surprise drop dance album was supposed to do massive numbers. Unless ofc you have an agenda

Says the woman who refused to acknowledge Drake doing worst numbers then Kendrick including breaking the record for biggest drop in chart history just so she could protect the narrative she was spreading in her own thread.

Lmfao watch her and her minions try to come up with an excuse for this fact lol Kendrick stay outselling son and the only reason why CLB had mad sales was cause of Ye making it even more anticipated

Some of you really lose all common sense when it comes to Drake discussions just to push narratives than even YOU don't believe

I see a music industry decline being discussed here because of the veterans’ numbers decline and man…Idk if the decline in numbers from the veterans is reflective of a decline in the industry as much as they’re veterans who lose that magic touch of hitmaking - just like every mainstream act after they get to veteran status

There are rarely exceptions to this besides a very small few

    Who knows

I just don’t see the logic in using HN as the predictor of his future commercial success over his rap series that literally just dropped

I really don’t want to call that hater s*** but idk…I would never use I am not a human being’s sales to predict the next Carter album

It’s a tried and tested thing in media.

Game of Thrones absolutely bottled the finale and I bet House of the Dragon’s not gonna get the number the OG series got because it left such a bad taste in people’s mouths.

I think you’re underestimating what a project like H,N could do to the Drake brand. And I love the album but it’s clear a lot of people didn’t.

Like you said, we’ll have to wait and see but H,N also coupled with the fact that Scorpion and CLB were met with lukewarm reactions from the fans compared to his previous outings is gonna count for something.
