I mean....Not Like Us is just a catchy ass song to begin with. It's catchier and has more broad appeal than just about any song on FATD, including maybe Rich Baby Daddy.

And you're saying all of this based on what? How his diss tracks performed? You forget that what all those songs have in common is that he's actively going at Drake on them. You think those same people will stick around to support an album where he isn't doing that and is probably rapping about some political/conscious/deeply personal s***?

The fun for many people supporting Kendrick over the last 2 months was that it meant that they were sticking it to Drake. The motion Kendrick has seen since the beef has more to do with people hating on Drake than them loving Kendrick. That's why I don't think the support will translate to the new album the same way it did with the diss tracks.

Now, for me, I hope he drops an album that's more in the vein of GKMC/DAMN but I can also see him not wanting to do that and taking things in a whole other direction and if that isn't a direction that has bops and bangers, what will the support for the album look like?

My guess is part of the reason why he made Not Like Us was to prove he can do it but actively chooses not to. I don't see his next album being a bunch of West Coast bops because what if he goes that route and none of them catch fire the way Not Like Us did?

You're being a prisoner of the moment. The momentum from the beef has already died down for Kendrick. euphoria/meet the grahams are almost out of the Hot 100. GKMC/DAMN are already dropping on the Billboard 200 and TPAB/MMATBS which re-entered at the peak of the beef are almost out as well.

Not Like Us has gone from 7M US streams to less than 3M US streams daily on Spotify. It's lost the same amount of streams globally. It'll be #4 on tomorrow's Hot 100 top 10 and could drop to as low as #7 in next week's chart.

I say all of that to say, people had their fun with the beef and now it's back to business as usual. GKMC/DAMN will remain relatively stable because they're the 2 Kendrick albums that were charting before the beef and they were stable in the top 100 of the Billboard 200 before the beef ever popped off. The diss songs are all falling off.

I would love to see Kendrick's next album do monster numbers because we need as many rappers putting up numbers as possible but I just don't see people's hate for Drake translating into love for Kendrick when the time for him to push a whole album arrives. That's something that existed in the vacuum of the beef alone. Outside that, it dissipates imo (of course, his usual fans will show up for whatever he drops next. I just don't see it being in the vein of how massive the support for his diss tracks were).
