You have to look at the purchasing power as part of the equation also.

There is a reason why all these artists rather tour US/Canada because this part of the world carries more weight.

If Morgan Wallen was the most streamed artist globally then he would be the biggest but he isn't.

Bad Bunny is still bigger than him globally even at his peak. He had 2X as many streams in his off year.

these are the 10 biggest music markets in the world

Which ones do you think Bad Bunny is well known and his songs are popular?

Also we really putting all of latin america as if it's one country.

Bad Bunny is the most streamed artist in 20+ countries year in and out.

Ed has presence in Asia/Europe but he is rarely the biggest artist in each country. I like Ed.

I don’t understand your logic. Is it not more impressive that Bad Bunny is still as popular as he is, when there isn’t even a primarily Spanish-speaking country anywhere on this list?

I don't see Latam countries there individually but collectively they are bigger than all but US probably and Bad Bunny has chokehold on it and is #1.

The point is Bad Bunny isn't the most popular artist in the world.

The most popular is someone that is well known across all continents.

I hope you used that same genre excuse for albums like Mr Morale/Honestly Nvm, I know most people on here don't.

We'll see, I haven't seen hype for this new album at all considering he has the #1 streamed album of all time.

To me it just looks like his career is going the Post Malone trajectory.

37 million streams in 8 hours btw

no, most popular is someone who collectively does the best numbers.

He has the most GLOBAL streams which makes him the most popular.

Just like Cricket is the 2nd MOST popular sport even though 90% of the fanbase comes from south asia and most of the world does not know about it.

He’s the young god but no. Literal Batman energy: larger than life, cinematic, masculine power, can go back and forth between campy or gritty, and giving a damn about the world and being a man of the people

the gp doesn't like larger than life popstars anymore

they have to be relatable, they have to be like your best friends, they can't even be that good of performers anymore

there are tons of indians/south Asian artists doing millions of streams daily, billions monthly... Arijit Singh is the most followed singer on Spotify

yet we can all understand that they aren't "the most popular singers in the world", that they are just very popular in one specific region (which is very populous)... we can't say the same about Bad Bunny?

Spanish is the 4th most spoken language in the world. Bad Bunny is, by a wide margin, the most popular Spanish-speaking artist.

How would he not be one of the most popular artists in the world?

Bad Bunny is the third most streamed artist of all time on Spotify, with 85 billion streams.

Arijit Singh is #60, with 22 billion.

Do you not see the difference?

Even Ed Sheeran has 30 billion less streams than Bad Bunny, and he’s been making music for almost a decade longer.

people were criticizing beyoncé's christmas performance for being too choreographed and good ffs... and it wasn't the first time

she's deemed as "too perfect" and this is not appealing...

they don't even like power vocalists anymore. everything now is all about "vibes", relatability, personal experiences

    literally just an example

this guy is a massive star in one specific part of the world while simultaneously being completely irrelevant outside of it

Morgan Wallen's numbers in the US are insane. He will eventually have two diamond albums in a span of 5 years... yet he's completely irrelevant almost everywhere
