kendrick once again proves to be miles ahead of the competition
One of the best albums to come out recently. Listen to it every day since it came out at least once, top to bottom. Album came right when niggas needed it to come out and the first 3 songs set the bar very high. I didn’t know what to expect from this, and I was pleasantly surprised to what we got. Album will age so well with time and be yet another high mark on Kendrick’s career
The concert was DIFFERENT and being front row seeing the man perform for the first time after being a fan since OD brought everything full circle. I’m not even hungry for a new album cause this sufficed all my needs and I’m glad he gave us this classic
Highlights: United in Grief - Heart Pt. 5
Shout to King Kendrick, K.Dot, Mr. Morale
While not quite on the level of GKMC/TPAB, I think it’s a really great album that has some of his best work period with songs like United In Grief, Worldwide Steppers, Father Time, Count Me Out, Crown, Savior & Mother I Sober. Completely understand why some people in this thread reacted as negatively as they did, it’s definitely a challenging album at times. But I think that time will be very kind to this album and it will have a unique position in his discography like Yeezus does for Ye.
absolutely terrible album that ruined a perfect discography
You sound dumb
9/10 album but only because he made a huge mistake putting ‘those two songs’ on it. Remove Auntie Diaries and replace We Cry Together with The Heart V and it’s by a mile the best hip hop album of the decade. Nobody doing it like Kendrick today.

I agree with the first one but I don’t think The Heart Part 5 really fits with the sound of the album.
I think he should’ve put the “I’m Better” song on the album with Sampha because that was the one leak from the album sessions that deserved better.
It's Metacritic score isn't 100 anymore @op
Change that to stop imagined hate

I’m with you, type of songs where it’s cool to hear the first time but no replay value. Even outside of those flawed tracks, the album as a whole doesn’t stand out much even when compared to his discography. For your starters, the rapping was deleivered in this strange, spoken word or hashtag flow, here’s an example:
"8 billion people on Earth, #SilentMurderers
Non-profits, preachers and church, #CrooksAndBurgulars
Hollywood corporate in school, #TeachinPhilosophies
You either gon' be dead or in jail, #KillerPsychology"
You get the gist right? I feel there are better ways to word what he’s trying to convey.
Not to mention the production wasn’t anything special either and some points of the album came off as overproduced.

Exaggeration much
I also am a firm believer that this album overall surpasses DAMN
absolutely

you do know he was coming off a writer's block so that may have affected his ability to rap. He's not going to be putting his thoughts across as clearly as he was on let's say, TPAB or GKMC, because he didn't have that rhythm.
However, I think it gives Mr Morale a more personal feel as it's more about him expressing himself & where he was at.
A very polarizing album, either hate it or you love it
I liked the vulnerability
it was hit a lot of “hush hush” issues about the “culture” right on the mark, so well that it hurts to listen to

Your last sentence me think, perhaps this particular rapping style was done to give this feeling of venting to his therapist? As opposed to say, him spitting bars after bars where it lose the personal feel
