I understand the album and the perspectives very well, we've had a similar upbringing. I've lost friend and family to violence and gangs. Been to therapy a few times, and had huge leaps in self-discovery. I think he dumbs down too for the general public

Once again N95 is not listed as one of the songs I have a problem with. N95 had more of an interesting soundscape and a more relevant message for where he is in his development. That's not the same as making a song saying you shouldn't treat your Auntie different because she's different. If you have to learn over the age of 8, there's a significant problem imo

I just think it’s a contradiction if u not even fully sure the album was made for the critics but

I liked Auntie Diaries, tbh
I thought the pronouns changing in the song as he got more used to it and understood it more was an accurate depiction of how many people who aren’t bigoted, but are thrown off initially by a loved one coming out react. They want to respect their loved one and honor their wishes, but it takes a little while to make the full switch.
As for use of the f slur, I thought it was tasteful and addressed both arguments for and against it well. Like, when Kendrick hears if he wants to say the f slur, he’s gotta let white people say the n word, to me that’s him understanding how important that word is, and backing off of it; but that’s just my interpretation.
I admit that the scene in the church is a bit over the top, but I also think it was just meant as a small example of a small victory; something to celebrate and replicate, even if it’s not solving everything yet

Some of you really think that an album having a message/being a concept album automatically means it's good and everyone has to like it. Nope. You still have to deliver musically. Kendrick landed the mark on GKMC/TPAB but he missed the mark on MMATBS and that's okay. I bet he lands the mark next time.

TBAP was personal, people claim it was political, but to me it's really just about his experiences navigating the music industry as a upcoming rapper, and as a black person in America, the subject matter is inherently "political" I didn't get the feeling when listening to it that he was lecturing me but then again I'm black. I can understand that point of view towards Mr Morale.

I'd argue that rap like Sexy Redd and the more "ignorant" side of rap is more like blaxploitation films in the form of music.
