I wanna see this with my mom cause she loves Leo. But she ain’t really into blood or gore. Does the film have any of that?

A few scenes absolutely
Imo, there's definitely some fat that could've been trimmed, but overall, I thought it was very engrossing. DeNiro is downright detestable, and DiCaprio is pitiful. Stupidity and greed are a truly nasty combo.
I kind of wish the movie explored more of the native side of the narrative, but if anything, the movie has given me a greater desire to do a deep dive into native history.
Wow, I felt like it could have been longer
Pretty batshit that this is a true story. The hubris to kill dozens of people so conspicuously..
yall don’t got a non spoiler thread? I just wanted to get ratings for this since i’m excited to see it tomorrow
Wow, I felt like it could have been longer
I agree
I think if I have any nitpick, it’s that I felt more time could’ve been put to really understand the bond between Mollie and Ernest because i didn’t feel the love they had for each other because it pretty much felt like Mollie only liked him because he was cute and honestly Vice versa. I feel there needed to be something more of substance to really understand why Ernest truly loved her and why Mollie loved him enough to believe him
Seen ppl talkin about the De Niro - Scorsese duo, and where does this rank in their collabs
One movie ppl always forget to mention or seem to hold low is Cape Fear
Imo that’s one of De Niro best performances

I personally would take his performance here over Cape Fear
It’s obviously not as good as Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and King of Comedy simply because those characters are more complex and De Niro gets to do more. Even The Irishman is a performance I’d take over what he did here. But as far as supporting goes, I think this holds right alongside Goodfellas performance wise

There are probably three scenes that are really gory and hard to stomach
Leo's performance:
Is it a masterpiece? Does it live up to the Scorsese name? No spoilers plz
yes
for being 3.5 hours long, the pacing was immaculate
what an amazing movie…i need to sit with it more to have some concrete thoughts
Btw our group was debating if Ernest knew he was poisoning Mollie. I personally don't think he knew—it was like the ultimate example of his foolishness. The look on his face during the table scene was one of genuine confusion.
Edit: So according to Google, the real Ernest was well aware of what he was doing, but apparently Scorsese purposely kept it ambiguous.
didn’t he know from the jump it was poison?
didn’t he know from the jump it was poison?
They never told him what it was, he probably assumed it was some sort of sedative
SPOILER
He def knew because when he’s with King and the doctors, they tell him that he has to give the whole thing and it’s to slow her down. This is in retaliation to her trip to DC which indirectly got the BOI into Fairfax.
Also at the end after the trial he tells her he’s happy he has no more secrets but when she asks about the insulin, he lies. He knew there was something and it becomes pretty obvious that she recovered after she was in the care of a doctor and no longer receiving the insulin shots mixed with the other stuff. This is why Mollie leaves for good, because even if Ernest does love her, he’s not capable of being fully truthful.
imo
Guys I’m really sorry but idk how to spoiler my post I know it’s two vertical bars but every time I try on that long post it doesn’t work
