Won’t lie, the thought of this being white guilt trauma p*** did cross my mind for a little bit until I realized how reductive it was to summarize such a masterfully ambitious and personal film like this down to just that

Yeah and I havnt seen the movie yet so obviously I can’t judge it yet.

More so just giving my pre-thoughts because I am going into it with a lens that is very willing to critique.

Yea after seeing the movie I understand his take. Basically this is an excellent Scorsese movie but it’s not an Osage Indian movie which is what he wishes to see more of end of the day

also took him to mean that maybe it was best Scorsese stuck to his style because the story from the perspective of the Osage should be told by an Osage

feel like Marty would've really had to walk a fine line portraying the Reign of Terror from the pov of the Osage without getting the trauma p*** label

understand the critique about how depicting a loving relationship and guilty conscience minimizes the evilness of it all but I read Scorsese said the Burkhart family told him there was a lot of love between them and wanted him to portray it that way

I think they're all fair critiques and the conversation of how and who tells the story is important. at the same time, the Reign of Terror is finally going to become part of the national conversation thanks to this film, which is quite an accomplishment itself

Between this and Oppenheimer they both raise the question of being sure we aren't clapping for the wrong reasons

His critique is honestly super fair / understandable and he laid it out in the best way

What was he putting in the insulin? I think I caught a glimpse of the label and thought it said morphine. But I didn’t think that would kill you in small doses over time. Idk.

Maybe it wasn’t actually killing her but just sedating her like they said. Idk. I probably read the label wrong

Poison. The morphine was to slow her down

Masterpiece. Another one in the books. Scorsese emulates John Ford and von Stroheim.

Silence is top 5 Scorsese, I think it might be the most “mature” film he’s ever made
