Just make the console more powerful and make better games. Could not care less about what the home screen that I spend 15 seconds on looks like
s*** add's character and makes the consoles more memorable. Plus it makes them more iconic (wii's music, ps2 startup, the og xbox''s ambience) Just little details that help bring the console to life the same way little details in rockstar games make their world feel more alive.

idk wii and wiiu i didn't care about, haven't cared about sony ui since ps2 + i had themes on ps4
design is mad safe now yeah, but most probably do not care and they have no reason to do it cause they prob don't care about it and don't need it to make the consoles more interesting

ASAKIThat's how a lot of UX design has been going in general. Very minimal, very sterile, very corporate.
I appreciate it once in awhile but it's weird seeing something that's supposed to be fun like consoles taking that approach too.
it's a lot of stuff like that, it's always more unique and passionate early on, and the more successful it gets and s*** it gets more safe, uniform and basic in a bunch of aspects

Pretty sure the companies have done there due diligence to realize that stuff doesn’t matter and that’s why it’s not implemented

I feel like the only people that really complain about console UI as a serious knock are hardcore PC nerds since it aint a literal desktop
PS3, PS4 & OG360 were goat in terms of intuitive ui imo
X1 & xsx are too crammed tho with too much going on
