Von would legit be a star if he was still alive and not in prison, as big as DaBaby was a couple years ago. He was more charismatic as a person than Durk, funnier, catchier, good rapper, had a strong vision for visuals and putting projects together.

I think his music may be a bit too violent to be DaBaby big. I use my brother and girlfriend as litmus tests for what a mainstream listener likes since neither care about music like that. Both like DaBaby, but my brother thought Von was just gym music and my girlfriend found it unappealing.

While that’s valid. I think his music would evolve.

If he went the way Pop went in terms of making music for the clubs then yeah, but he wouldn’t have made it big just off drill music alone.

imo Von's music would have been big among fans of hip-hop but I'm not gonna lie I can't see him being as big as DaBaby doing award shows, songs with pop stars, etc. Don't think that was what he was aiming for. Seeing him evolve would have been interesting though for sure, sadly he wasn't able to let go of his old life even after popping off a little bit

YBs last solo mixtape sales decreased quite a bit too. The issue it he drops too much music casual listeners are tired of him. That 30k is a mix of the die hard YB and Baby fans.

on top of his house arrest, his beef with Durk, Lil Baby, half the rap game, etc. means no cross-promotion from featured artists and nobody posting it on their social media
Youngboy doesn't do interviews and couldn't even link with DaBaby in person for a music video, I feel like if he was out on free terms and they gave this a real thought out rollout Better than You would easily be doing like 60-80k. its a good album but not many people really even knew about it before it was out
