it should but its hard to do a rollout for YoungBoy he's embroiled in too much s***
on top of his house arrest, his beef with Durk, Lil Baby, half the rap game, etc. means no cross-promotion from featured artists and nobody posting it on their social media
Youngboy doesn't do interviews and couldn't even link with DaBaby in person for a music video, I feel like if he was out on free terms and they gave this a real thought out rollout Better than You would easily be doing like 60-80k. its a good album but not many people really even knew about it before it was out

They dropped Hit and Bestie in January, and Hit got a video late January too.

DaBaby was pushin it week Before release, and Neighbour Hood superstar video dropped a few days before release.

Also there weren't any feats on the project were there? So no cross promo either way no?

And the Birdman/YB tape got same/less promo and did 29K fw. DaBaby collab should do more than that lmao. It's a mixtape not a album, and a collab tape at that, so I'm not expecting 100K+, but it should be clearing 50K+ based on roll out + artists.

Yeah but that was a tape compared compared an album those sales not supposed to be the same.

You wrong btw YB has always depended on hard-core fans casuals and the mainstream always hate him. The problem here is his own fans aren't listening cause they hate Dababy like everyone else.

I think his fans Are listening just had no promo

and people picking sides more so because of how mainstream Durk is.

its sad because his feature on CMIYGL should've been a big moment for him, he really was poised to have his biggest year coming out if not for the Quando / Von / Durk thing

Every excuse your making for YB can be said for Von. He is dead and cannot do interviews and drop new videos. Rap beef sells records. Thatā€™s why people beef.

Both artists are considered major acts. DaBaby is free and is on a promo run and there sales are still low. YB is also allowed visitors so they could do a video together.

I also think people put to much weight on a artist posting someone else cover art. The average artist has more than 1 million followers. If there followers actually clicked and listened when they posted an album there own albums would always do 1 million first week.

haha my point was that the no features thing is because youngboy hates everybody, Dababy probably would've wanted to have features on there

and the music video is less effective because they have no scenes Together.
    that's important for collaborations

when you compare them, the videos where the artists are together are gonna get more engagement because fans want to see their favorite artists interact.

    lol maybe you're right

but artists value that cosign for a reason, that ig post can be the reason someone remembers that you have an album dropping this Friday

The reality is both acts are not as big as they think and do not have enough pull to do s*** by themselves. At this point YB Better is a meme done by people who donā€™t listen to YB.

Yeah a post can make people remember that you have an album. But if you have 10 million followers another artist posting your own music would cause a crazy up lift as you have a bigger reach by posting on your own socials to your own fans. If drake posts you on the other hand since heā€™s a mega star people are inclined to check it out because they want to know who he is supporting.

Popstar by Khaled don't got no scenes with both artists and the video went crazy

Yung Bleu Mine's Still Remix doesn't even have the featured artist in the video and it went crazy (if you're measuring engagement by views, it has more views than the Durk/Baby video you linked).

Even the new MGK video is doing well (2.3M views in a day compared to NeighbourHood Superstar's 3.9 in 3) and the featured artist isn't even in the video.

I really don't think it matters, And atleast both artists are present in the videos for the Baby YB tape

YB could do numbers on an album if he released like major artists do. The problem is YB still drops music like he irrelevant. No reason for him to drop a project every month.

    Exactly - These are excuses.

If we are to think objectively the reason this collab project has flopped:

    • rap fans are tired of Collab projects.
    • these artists are only truly stars amongst their core fans.
    • YBs core is tired of him flooding the streets with similar sounding projects.
    • Babyā€™s core is tired of his mid that he been putting out and all the goofy s*** he been doing.
    • in short both artists had their peaks and are experiencing a decline

If he went the way Pop went in terms of making music for the clubs then yeah, but he wouldnā€™t have made it big just off drill music alone.

He was tryna poppier stuff from the first tape he just wasnt naturally good at it so as he progressed he woulda got bigger

Yeah heā€™s flooded the market which is good when you try and create a fan base but now it hurts you.

I don't know if I'd go as far as to say YB is experincing a decline. When he drops a full fleged album (example: Sincerly Kentrell late last year) he will clear 100K easily.

And his mixtapes usually do good numbers relatively.

Colors did 79K. Being a mixtape that's solid.
The tape with Birdman did 29K which is okay considering it's a collab tape (collab tapes usually do less than the bigger artists solo) and its with f***ing Birdman.

It's just this one that I'd say under preformed

As for DaBaby, idk.. He hasn't dropped a album in nearly 2 years but his last album easily cleared 100K. He dropped 2 EPs that did around 25K each but they are just EPs. And this tape. Won't know for sure until we see a solo album. Maybe he really is "cancelled"

Lmao nah he simply doesnā€™t care about first week sales. He will still be. A top 3 most streamed artist end Of the year like the last few years.

Also heā€™s flooding this time because thereā€™s a possibility of him losing his case and having to sit in jail for a few years

Top 3 most streamed with a project every month...

I'm talking about overall sales to and his will always be on the lower end for his projects the way he drops.

Why flood the market and not craft albums so you can drop while in jail.

Thatā€™s my point. No other artist his caliber would dare drop music at that rate because them and their label care about first week sales too much.

If Iā€™m gonna be top 3 streamed artist all genres why does it matter how I got there. Youngboy and his fanbase donā€™t care about him crafting a perfect album. Every artist donā€™t have to use the same blueprint. Bro keeps the lights on at Atlantic

    Good #s for Von.

Bad #s for DaBaby and YB. YB's tape with Birdman did about 30K. With DaBaby should crack 50K atleast

Itā€™s just a mixtape lol neither is an L

  • YB dropping too much is the real issue, like bro said tho, even his last mixtape saw a dip in his sales. If he doesnā€™t drop til the end of the year his sales will rise again. Plus collab projects historically havenā€™t done that well.

  • All that matters tho is their project is flames

  • A Mad Ass Nigga

Itā€™s just a mixtape lol neither is an L

    nah 30K a L for DaBaby and YB, & I know it's a mixtape - I explained above

you a lil late to this one aman
