I think the main difference between 4:44 and KD (besides production) is that KD rapping is very poetic while 4:44 is more "factual". Jay never stops naming people and describing actual moments in his life and the culture while Nas does it in a more poetic and insightful way, his bars can be interpreted in different ways. HOV tells you the whole picture while Nas wants you to try to picture it yourself off interpretations most of the time.
