Red Beard is unreal, Seven Samurai lives up to the hype and then some
Just watched that for the first time a few months back, really enjoyed it
7 samurai that is
He inspired my favorite Asian action film of all time so he’s already a goat just for that.. and that’s not even talking about the films he made himself yet
I think Dreams is the best movie to throw on if youre on hallucinogenics and want to trip out

What movie you talking about?
What movie you talking about?
Have to correct myself, not just from Asia, but it’s actually one of my favorite action films from any country ever
Hands down my fav Asian director though
Legend of Japanese cinema among Ozu, Kobayashi, Naruse, Mizoguchi, etc. Ran is by far his best.
Derzu Uzala is also his beautiful film about civilization vs nature
Gotta get into his filmog
I’ve been exploring the Asian filmmakers influenced by him but have yet to get to him. Ran looks so good tho
Ran is the best movie ever made, the acting during the ghost makeup scenes were phenomenal. Rewatched Yojimbo and Seven Samurairecently too very fun stuff. Yojimbo is especially hilarious If you want to read a manga with similar themes check out Vanguard, just finished the last chapter and it’s veery pretentious but also gripping and inventive
One of the greatest of all time. Anything that could be said about him will sound banal because his tremendous talent has already been acknowledged countless times. Love the way he composed movement on multiple scales, he could make a lot of things happen in a single static shot. My favorite of his is “Ran”.
