my least favorite era of hip hop is when rappers were literally begging for pop hooks to get a hit

the first drastic change is when Panda hit #1

    yep

the fact that artists like drake, trav or future never really needed a huge pop feature to become huge has to hurt the pop industry

    Streaming = consumer demand.

Maybe there's some group think involved or programming because of playlists. But it's the closest 1-1 representation of fans that music has ever had.

remember not too long ago Drake couldnt get a #1 without rihanna. or every rapper peaked at #40 max with smash hits unless ur Iggy or Macklemore

    how times have changed

Now popstars need rappers to get bigger numbers they hate to see it

Bobby shmurda or t-wayne getting top 10 hits with freestyles is beautiful

It’s crazy 4 years later it would have been easily top 15 for the quality of the song and the chris brown backflip meme alone.

Fr tho. Mad people I used to respect show how fragile they really are when they’re not the center of attention. They’re babies.

Don’t underestimate playlists. Getting a rapcaviar placement will get you millions of streams even if people dont f*** with you that much just like payola did with the radio

she wants the 3 piece drizzy stimulus so bad

  • Nov 3, 2019

    She should stick to acting

    iCarly Japan

What kind of f***ing logic is that? It's not like people can stream whatever the f*** they want right? This isn't f***ing radio, we pick out what we wann hear. And if that means that people rather listen to hip hop than your music, then so be it

This. Like how can you “add more diversity to streaming” when streaming is literally listeners picking songs they want to hear and playing them. F***ing dead.

Idgi tho, there ARE playlists for all that. You cant force ppl to gravitate towards a certain genre or type of music, it just happens naturally.

But there are playlists like that for EVERY genre

The reason why RapCaviar is so big and gets rap artists so many streams is that rap is the biggest

  • Nov 3, 2019

She’s Gaga. Can’t get mad at her.

  • Nov 3, 2019

If the people want hip hop they want hip hop. It’s in demand right now, don’t put that blame on the genre

Sure it was only an exemple. I mean one playlist can make or break a song just like a radio placement did a few years ago.

Also they have this technique to artificially boost streams where they’ll add a song to thousands of playlists with a few thousands followers

Yeah but you don’t get it here

Sure there are ways to make songs artificially blow to a certain level with streaming, what i’m saying is that those same techniques are also available and often used for pop artists and pop songs. There’s also a s*** ton of methids used to make a song blow on radio that these acts use.

The reason why rap specifically is thriving can’t be attributed to commercial subterfuges since it’s used by literally every genre.
