Dont know if it was a reliable source but i’ve read that maybe 5 years ago
Yeah and 5 years ago streaming was just barely taking off. People used pandora 5 years ago
As i’ve answered before itt i didn’t meant to say rap artists are cheating so that’s why hip hop is #1 in the streaming era. Rapcaviar was only an exemple and of course every genre use these techniques since only 20% of spotify users actually used the search button once.
I meant in terms of artists blowing up there is still distortion between what the people actually want and what becomes really popular.
If you take out all those playlists yes hip hop would still be the number one genre imo
Your conclusion is fair. Not trying to say it's perfect but streaming is more accurate and at least consumers have more power. Whether they use it or not.
Streaming playlists are usually based off of what your interests are and the music you listen to. Why would the streaming services make playlists for users that they aren’t interested in?
my least favorite era of hip hop is when rappers were literally begging for pop hooks to get a hit
the first drastic change is when Panda hit #1
oh yea facts. I remember Panda going #1 was a huge moment for hip hop, first time a true rap song topped the charts in forever.
The artist of the decade didn't need a white b**** on the hook
White hoes mad ×6
lmao she can shut the f*** up
these pop artists that try to pin the hip hop dominance on streaming seem to forget just how biased the radio era were to white artists
Oh so suddenly their is no "diversity" when hip-hop (a predominantly black genre of music) is the most popular music in the world.

remember not too long ago Drake couldnt get a #1 without rihanna. or every rapper peaked at #40 max with smash hits unless ur Iggy or Macklemore
how times have changed
Actually prefer that. Seems like every mid rap song going #1 these days then get forgotten
that movie got her feeling herself
reality will set in when she drops her own music (no movie soundtrack) and she goes back to flopping

Such a stupid statement. People listen to what they like and if the popular genre of the time is rap, then that's just what it is. You cant force change like that
It's true
