Streaming shows what ppl are actually listening to lol. Lady Gaga mad because the whole facade of pop/radio music being the most popular has been exposed.

Yeah but you don’t get it here

Sure there are ways to make songs artificially blow to a certain level with streaming, what i’m saying is that those same techniques are also available and often used for pop artists and pop songs. There’s also a s*** ton of methids used to make a song blow on radio that these acts use.

The reason why rap specifically is thriving can’t be attributed to commercial subterfuges since it’s used by literally every genre.

I never said only rap artists used these techniques i know everybody cheats

Black music is a forced to be reckoned with, we are facilitators of great music inside and outside the mainstream.

Don’t underestimate playlists. Getting a rapcaviar placement will get you millions of streams even if people dont f*** with you that much just like payola did with the radio

But in terms of genres isn't there a "Pop Caviar" or "Country Caviar" l

If there are playlists like that but Rap Caviar results in the biggest gain of streams, then there is diversity, but rap is more popular.

As i’ve answered before itt i didn’t meant to say rap artists are cheating so that’s why hip hop is #1 in the streaming era. Rapcaviar was only an exemple and of course every genre use these techniques since only 20% of spotify users actually used the search button once.

I meant in terms of artists blowing up there is still distortion between what the people actually want and what becomes really popular.

If you take out all those playlists yes hip hop would still be the number one genre imo

Where are your stats coming from?

Because the latest stats on Spotify shows that only 33% of streams come from Spotify generated playlists like RapCaviar.

there wasnt a single moment in her lifetime where "punk, pop, rock, dance" were flourishing at the same time

it was a pop domination with other lesser genres looking for scraps and for pop's acceptance to get big

now that a genre like hip hop is dominating and people like the migos don't need a selena gomez hook to go to the top for example, these pop artists get pissed bc we don't need them anymore

Pop means popular music and by definition whatever charts is pop. It’s not a real genre
