A life based purely off of what you need to survive is not a life worth living. That’s where I disagree with all this socialist talk. I’m not advocating for extreme excess, but the way the socialist advocates or rather anti-capitalism advocates talk makes it seem as if having the bare minimum is enough to placate people.
Absolutely no one is talking about the bare minimum
imagine defending this system.
What is the alternative for people who can’t afford to buy homes then? Public housing?

Literally just dont have rent be a thing
If you're talking right now today? Government subsidies and yes public housing

Yea I meant right now not ideally lol.
As someone who lives in a rented home I would personally not want this to be the case.

For what to be the case
For what to be the case
I wouldn’t wanna live in public housing with more funding than the house my parents rent.
I mean ideally I would but I don’t think we have the infrastructure to sustain that, so nah.

Is it a problem of funds being allocated improperly or do we need more funds?

the faircloth amendment literally makes it so that we arent allowed to build more public housing units lol.

I’ve never heard of this
If this was to be amended do you think we have enough money funneled through government now that could be reallocated or do we need to significantly raise taxes?

no we don't need to raise taxes. we can pay for it by creating new funds and then controlling that through other means (im not an economic expert or anything but study MMT if you can). but even if you dnt subscribe to that, we could just take money from the military budget, and put 80 bil + towards targeted housing projects and more towards government subsidies to help ppl struggling with rent

Ok so before I deep dive, and forgive my ignorance if it shows, you’re saying that because the US dollar is fiat we can basically use MMT to establish universal housing?

Havent heard of it but I’m assuming the book is about how the debt basically isn’t real?
And yea I wouldn’t say I find it boring but I’m not a reader and it’s hard to find videos on it that aren’t boring or just straight unwatchable.
Will read that article though 👍🏽
basing someone being a good person or not just because they are getting by in capitalist america is wrong
just because housing should be a human right =\= landlords being bad people
RENT IS DUE TODAY
Yes let's defend this
That scenario would arise anytime someone owes someone else lol
But yeah frame it as landlords are evil
