    Snoh Aalegra - Ugh those feels again

    Im a big fan of Snoh and this album gets a lot of spins from me. This is one of my favorite albums from 2019. She grew a lot on it and she reminds me of Sade a bit. This album didn't really feel like a breakup album when I factor in her tone and beats but I can see how one could use it to recover. Her songwriting is really good and her voice is really soothing. You can tell as she gets better her material will be timeless. She's one of those rare talents due to her voice and her aura. The album really doesn't decline in quality and can be used for a lot of purposes imo. Definitely a tape I'd put on around a female. Also like how she continued Charleville. My only gripe with this is I wish she used a rap feature on this. Someone like ross cole or drake woulda been dope. Her rap features on her last album were trash tho.

    Favorite songs: Love Like That, Situationship, Whoa, I Want you around.

    8.5/10

    Ayeee glad you enjoyed it as well. It’s one of if not my favourite album last year. Idk when it comes to this album but I’m satisfied with no features it gives her more space to do her thing which I like hearing. But thinking of Snoh x Cole would be fire

    Mary J. Blige - My Life (R&B/Soul, 1994)

    I never ever listened to a Mary album I usually only heard of her from features or her hit singles. I knew she was talented but damn I regret that now lmao. I really liked this album and surprisingly alot of the songs on herr sound familiar like samples I’ve heard on other albums (all night long and you bring me joy). The song My Life touched my soul deep. I feel like in the future I’ll grow emotional attachment to this album where I just randomly play it while feeling down. I love classic R&B albums and I’m definitely checking out her other albums I got them saved

    Rating: 9/10

    • Joni Mitchell - Blue

    @pneumonia

    I had already heard this a few years ago but I didn't like it that much at the time. This time around I liked it a little more but still don't love any of it. Her voice sounds good, but I don't particularly like the way she's singing. The guitars are pretty good, although I don't like the weird sounding timbre of one of them sometimes. I liked the piano a lot and I liked those songs more (favorites were Blue and River) The songwriting is interesting and seems very unique, but none of it grabs me or sticks with me enough to really love any of these songs. I wasn't paying much attention to the lyrics but I could not really connect emotionally to the sound of the album that much, even though i did find it pleasant overall. I give it a 6.5/10

    I hope I like the album more some day, its one of those albums that I wish i liked more. I think I might have to enter her discography at a different point.

    honestly nothing about this project by beck is that inspiring to me from what I heard over the past week and some change. It just sound like a songwriter album.

    With songwriting album, I have to find the voice of the artist at hand captivating for me to unfortunately this isn't compelling to me.

    • American Football - American Football

    Heard this is supposed to be the essential emo album although this seems like a slightly different take on the sound. I love a lot of the instrumentals on here which makes sense due to the math rock approach for example Never Meant & Honestly? but I can’t seem to get behind the off-kilter vocals.

    I couldn’t really highlight any bad songs, there’s something about each song that has qualities that I like but it’s mostly the vocals which I can see growing on me with time but didn’t quite connect with me on first listen. Have to say the trumpet inclusions sounded great, took me by surprise initially. Helps build a very melancholy like vibe to them.

    7/10
    Highlights: Never Meant, Honestly?
