the scene where lebowski says must be exhausting about the nihilists is pretty clever writing too. i never noticed that line before but on rewatch, it probably stood out the most. owing to my experience taking on a nihilistic mentality from time to time in my adult life and how it genuinely does require effort to maintain or care about. weird.

The script is amazing cause when you read it you can actually hear the actors delivery in your head

  • loved this movie dearly as a child. finally rewatched it tonight and it holds up like crazy. 9/10

    Priscilla

Sofia sure has an eye for handsome men and dreamy white girls. Every shot in this movie is beautiful, I love the natural lighting; Jacob Elordi is handsome, born for this role; Caedy Spaeny is so cute and everything she is wearing makes her glow. I love the story and that Sofia kept the focus on Priscilla. The plot is based on Priscilla's autobiography and I think you will appreciate the movie more if you read it before going in although the movie can stand on its own provided you have a basic idea of who she is or you watched that other movie I won't mention by name... It's an intimate supercut of Priscilla's life that feels real, as if she handed you an old photo album from the moment she met Elvis as a teenager until they went separate ways. This might be my favorite movie of the year.

    incredible movie, just incredible

yay, i'm glad u loved this

this is right up the alley of anyone interested in these mystic other worldly conversations which at least for me, i only get to have with very select people. it's not part of everyone's palette so i get that there's gonna be people who get it and those who don't. idk if this sounds crude but it's basically just like one long podcast but framed as a meeting between two old friends. it's really f***ing lovely honestly.

also i get the feeling that if u like that one, you might also like "as i was moving ahead occasionally i saw brief glimpses of beauty"

disclaimer: it's 4 hours long but honestly, it's about 4 hours of this guy reading poetry he wrote while the movie is just scenes of his life he recorded over the span of multiple decades.

it's beautiful because it's often shots of him with his wife, friends and family

it doesn't have any strong sense of plot or structure... the whole thing is just like a collage of little moments of his life stitched into this marvellous 4 hours of beautiful imagery and moving written word pieces. i've never seen anything like it but i'm almost sure someone somewhere has attempted to do similar but i'm not plugged in enough to tell

My fav comedy and one of my fav movies ever

what drew you to it or why do you like it so much?

for me it's the concept of the dude as something a lot us would say is ideal but also difficult to master or surmise because at the end of the day, maybe life isn't that simple for most of us

the comedy and writing are also great as you say. the jokes and delivery can be super on point. i love walter and i feel he adds so much to the movie as this unhinged but comedically wondrous war vet. idk it's just every time he goes on a rant, it feels like Alex Jones almost? but yeah dude's like a meme.

it's also cool that none of those three feel like they really have that much in common overall so they all bring different energy to the table but you really can't help but believe they're best friends

the plot is also funny the way it seems to start with a carpet getting pissed on to this whole thing about missing toes and stolen money lmao

but yeah just giving my 2 cents

A wild true story about a 63 year old swimmer who swam over 100 miles from Cuba to Miami.

While it doesn’t reinvent the wheel as far as sport biopics go, I was fully invested as someone who never heard about this event back when it happened in the early 2010s. The friendship between the leads is the core emotional crutch of the movie and was the strongest aspect imo. There are one or two beautiful scenes visually and I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t motivating af to see a woman at her age fulfill her dreams.

If you’re interested in the story or need some extra motivation I’d say check it out. Otherwise, I don’t think it’ll end up in my top 10 end of year list or anything

I never seen Scott Pilgrim before so after watching I gotta say its pretty unique

    On-brand for Edgar Wright though

    A lot of anime influence

I didn't really like it, it's not for me it felt like for little kids
