Alien. For the first time.

I am now Xenophobic, and can finally name a female character.
Must have been unreal experiencing this when it released.
saw the handmaiden last night
honestly thought it was incredibly overrated. the twists don't hit like they should and the second half felt kind of weak. execution just didn't work for me
not a bad movie at all, general premise is promising. just expected a lot given how people talk about it
3.5/5
Seen a lot of hype for this from critics and I’m into romcoms or romantic dramas but didn’t think this was that great.
The premise was interesting to me - 40 year old mom and 24 year old pop star fall in love. There was a lot they could’ve commented on but the pacing wasn’t there for it. A good hour of the movie is just them hooking up which only left them the last 40 minutes to get into all of the problems they face from a high profile age gap relationship. It was so crammed in the end to the point they were breaking up and making up in back to back scenes. If the movie was that final 40 minutes spaced out and able to let some parts breathe it’d probably be a better movie
slow burn mystery thriller with excellent performances by the two leads. ending was a lil contrived tho. 7/10
