Hope we get cover and tracklist today since a leak is inevitable now. As much as it’s frustrating at least we know Kendrick is 100% happy with the album and gave the okay for physicals to be pressed. No Kanye last minute changing bullshit.

Said any rapper could've done that third verse and get ridiculed for it, but since it's Kendrick we praise it. Used Joyner as an example.

i think it's really disrespectful how no one has really engaged with j cole's growth over the years

prior to as early as "everybody dies" i didnt really care for j cole. i liked forest hills drive but that was about it, but after those music videos i was able to recognize his growth and he's exponentially outdone his past self and my expectations of him

for people who box him in now as a lesser kendrick of sorts i find that wildly dismissive of what cole has managed to personally accomplish for himself. he isn't the most enigmatic artist and his attempts at conceptual records aren't world-shaking, but they're worth appreciation

i think if kendrick gets his way then we won't see the cover or tracklist until the album comes out. outside of surprise releases i can't think of another mainstream album that has happened with.

I don’t know where I would rank it but it weirds me out that people are giving Kendrick so much praise to The Heart 5 for his discussion on “the culture” when Kendrick said everything he said on The Heart 5 and more on To Pimp a Butterfly. The Blacker The Berry is a far more powerful statement as it acknowledges his own shortcomings and hypocrisies yet people are acting like Kendrick said something incredibly powerful on The Heart 5. Not saying he didn’t say something powerful, just saying that he’s said far more powerful things on the same topic.

The culture part isn’t what made it impressive. It’s the nipsey part.

Most ppl thought the first verse was just cool. The conversation is about the last two verses and the video. He definitely haven’t done that before.

i think the heart part 5 more encompasses black celebrity culture/noteworthy black figures in the culture compared to blacker the berry that was more of a raw commentary on black culture in general
