Iām saying even if Kenny beats was on here, you know Kendrick would make him craft some s*** worthy so I wouldnāt even be upset
Great call on the symbolism of Kendrick standing with his back to the world, facing his family instead. The fact that thereās chipped paint and everything in the surroundings doesnāt phase him. Heās steadfast as the man of the house no matter how much the backdrop might have cracks in its foundation
I took it more as bullet holes from stray bullets patched over than just chipped paint
Imo the fact that a given artwork can elicit responses and interpretations like this is validation enough of its quality
Very much a subjective thing in aesthetic philosophy, but Iām a big believer in āthe perception is the artā and a big part of that is creating art that communicates what the artist wants to, whether abstract or literal
yeah but also if any artist had as big of a following as kendrick theyād be digging deep into the cover even if thereās nothing there
I took it more as bullet holes from stray bullets patched over than just chipped paint
I can absolutely see that. That lends a whole other level of interpretation around his protection of his family from the world, that and the gun of course
I love this sort of s*** man lmao
Me too man
Throughline-identifying fiens like us are truly eating for the first time in what feels like forever lol
I still donāt feel like Iām done deciphering everything surrounding The Heart pt 5

Oh absolutely, people had plenty of interpretations of the Donda cover as funeral attire, closed eyes, death, etc. when itās a literal black square lmao
I can absolutely see that. That lends a whole other level of interpretation around his protection of his family from the world, that and the gun of course
The crown of thorns symbolises persecution, Jesus was killed for his views so I think this album will have some very controversial lyrics and viewpoints that will Kendrick into some trouble.
Makes me very excited to hear it.

Oh absolutely same. Every time I come back to it itās something new. I bet itāll have even more layers in context with the album as a companion

The Heart Part 5 felt like more of a mission statement than the others, there was a different air to this one I think
did op ever show up?
Pt 5 is definitely the best out of all of em
I think itās the best Heart as far as a song.
Heart part 4 was more to show his technical prowess as a rapper. Very showy
c***anti-trap elitists falling on their knees when they hear this after they click play on the album

Iām f***ing ready for that
As someone who generally gets tired of the talking points around cancel culture, TH5 had one of the most refreshing stances on the nuance of celebrity and loving/forgiving their contributions while still acknowledging their flaws and mourning their self-inflicted downfalls. It actually made me much more excited to hear him talk his s*** if the rumors about the album content are true (and all signs point to it)

Well f*** it itāll just be me and the album then lol
NFR podcast on TPAB being the greatest album of all time

MBDTF in there too but I never argue if someone prefers TPAB
