This guy created the perfect critic bait

If you don't give it 5/5 you look like you don't understand it

If nothing else this album shows just how calculated and strategic Kendrick really is.

    lmao nah fr

I think noname also came from a perspective of like, there are artists and ppl out there (like her, this site used to hate until that bookstore s*** came true. Then people hated on the books lol) that are legit 24/7 actually making grass roots movements in the streets for the people but still you seek leadership from the ones that are most silent until it's time for an album to drop.

Not saying it's right. I'm not saying it's wrong either.

A lot of beautiful things happening in NYC right now that won't ever get coverage by the media just for people on the internet to go "there's no more organizations that are just in it for the people" and s***.

I'm ngl I guess that's where the disconnect is at for me cuz I never sought leadership from any artist, I just enjoyed the art. Plus centralized leadership should never be a thing in movements like these anyway

of course! usually trans people don't even want to be reminded of their deadname, but if you do have trans friends and want to know if they're open enough to discuss it and the reasoning behind name changes, it could never hurt to ask them. knowledge is power

One thing I love about music discussion is that I can understand and learn more about lots of different things as well. I have utmost respect for the whole community but I don't really have trans friends so unless I read about it somewhere I may still have gaps in my knowledge of the topic. Thanks again for being cool with it and putting people on. Love <3

not messing with Rich spirit and Die hard (even though it's not. bad song just generic)

I love this album cause it feels like Kendrick is able to express himself without there being any absolute agenda that someone can attach to it. this aint no pro-black album like TPAB, or a day in the life in the hood like GKMC.
these are just unfiltered thoughts from a man who has watched everything that's been going on in the world for five years.

the production is very eerie and subtle but the way kendrick is able to switch cadencecs and tell his stories is still peak kendrick.

see I wouldve been cool with this if he DIDNT DROP THE HEART PART V

i guess i'll start by saying i do get what he was trying to go for with the storytelling, like it's meant to be this tale about growing up, maturing, and understanding intentions of words that you learn just by being around people as a kid, as well as not letting things you don't understand prevent you from caring about them

but the way he tries to tell this story is just so ... unnecessary?? i feel like he could've gotten what he wanted to get across just the same without spouting the f-slur like 10 times

i do get why he did it but it doesn't feel warranted. plus the fact that he seemingly is fine with his aunt (now uncle) being trans, but his cousin mary-ann is still referred to with he/him pronouns, as well as deadnamed multiple times

if this is his attempt at normalizing transgender people in hip-hop, he did a really s***ty job at it, honest

but i'd say there's a difference between him saying "in 2022, i still use he/him pronouns and a deadname for mary-ann" and telling the story of the time period, many years ago, around mary-ann's social transition where he didn't have all of these concepts understood and so used them clumsily

this is different from using the slur where using it in the song (recorded after the conversation where he realizes that it's like him not letting the white girl saying the n word) kind of contradicts the whole ending of the song, because he is "using the slur in 2022," even if just as a quote

Album is like doing a Malort shot( which tastes like sewage mixed with boat gasoline), you do it once so you can say you did it, but it’s not something you can go back to constantly.
