I do love the album, don’t get me wrong, however, I do believe that after a five year wait it’s a bit disappointing in terms of the rapping content, and I would absolutely love for Kendrick to drop another album where he shuts all his critics up and truly showcases his rapping skill. I feel that as much as I love the album, it doesn’t showcase his lyrical talent as well as it could, especially considering it was a 5 year wait. Songs like Father Time, worldwide steppers, United in grief, auntie diaries, mother I sober are spectacular. Exactly the kind’ve content I expect from Kendrick. But a lot of the other tracks simply don’t withhold the same level of quality. I love when Kendrick goes for a more pop appeal with his music and all the pop songs on here are great, but they comprise practically half the album. After 5 years I simply expect more from him, idk.

Mans was on the risk of losing his family.

Think he had higher priorities than pop appeal lol

You right, it’s a good effort overall but it somewhat bothers how he decided to briefly step aside and make the entire album feel like…idk a musical or give heavy theatre vibes. For god sakes I hardly notice any actual rapping like rhyme-schemes on most of the tracks and it’s mainly spoken word

Although I think DAMN isn’t as good as this, at least some of his hunger was present on there

Not saying pop appeal was his priority. For all I know he could give a f*** about pop appeal. I’m just saying that a lot of these songs seem to sound that way and it’s not particularly the most impressive sound of his in my opinion. To each their own though.

I didn’t think the album was bad but we can’t deny that he took a spoken word approach for most of this album

As much as I do love this album I was a bit let down. I thought he'd lowkey pull another DAMN. Especially after letting his nuts hang on Family Ties.
