you know there was a video some niggas released that was titled "is the average hip hop fan too stupid to understand kendrick lamar"
i initially dismissed it as pretentious hipster s***, but seeing niggas conflating the crown of thorns with a messiah complex is really making me rethink it, it's either niggas aren't listening to the music or just being willingly ignorant

Nuance, comprehension, and complexity are lost on a lot of people these days tbh (mostly due to the speed in which social media reactions go and pan out). It's not just the average/casual rap listener that's guilty of it

The social media hot take cycle really f***ed this album's reception up and it's a shame because content-wise it's as complex and meaningful as any of his past work. It's just that no one was listening for it on release night.

The weirdest thing is people who criticize Kendrick for not making what amounts to wallpaper music.
Evaluate it for what it is (or rather what it attempts to be) as opposed to what it clearly is not and had no intention of ever being.
Thatās pretty much my perspective on anything (movies, music, literature, even games etc.), I expect quality from artists that I feel are dependable, but I donāt really have any expectations on what it will BE.
Like, if Kendrick decides to drop a country album as his next record, Iād judge it based on whether or not itās a quality country album. Itād definitely catch me off guard at first, but I wouldnāt dismiss it on principle.
Does anybody know what the whispers in Auntie Diaries are saying? Sounds like backmasking

I dont think ive ever heard a more relatable and educational album for me as an adult. Not like im going thru literally everything that kendrick is going through. But this perfectly evokes a black mans pain/ inheritance of trauma in this world and in regards to relationships unlike any other album ive heard.
Everytime i get down on myself for unintentionally hurting someone i love due to not being aware of my blind spots, this album played from front to back. It just hits after a f*** up that i didnt foresee happening due to being in my own head cause of stress and depression. s*** reminds me to take accountability and to simply be better
In my middle school/ teens it was cudi. Now its mr morale. this a classic album i want to play to my future children. Really glad this album exists and imo its his best album
This is starting to become on par with TPAB for me.
Actually, f*** it, all his albums are 10s
