Why do you think Kendrick started the war just now, after years of subliminals? He could diss drake and cole in Oct when 1st person shooter was released. The past few weeks are just an interlude of something else. It could be a Keem's album, or a pglang project. Kendick is very rational and plans every step ahead. He executed everything perfectly following a plan. He finished the war by releasing one of the biggest rap hits of the decade and it make sense to benefit from the hype. Do we know how long ago he recorded the verse for Like That though? Do we know for a fact that that verse wasn’t months old when it dropped?

The earliest is Nov. after first person shooter was recorded, most probably at the beginning of 2024. If it is true that Drake invited Kendrick to FPS and he refused I am assuming this happened before the release of the Hillbillies. The song is clearly mocking Drake and he got offended. Kendrick was probably trying to provoke him. He and Keem mention Messi in the song multiple times. As a reply, Drake recreated the picture of Messi and Ronaldo playing chess for the FPS video. Kendrick knew that he needed a hit to do the damage and considering that he and Future have the same manager I guess they connected and he saw the perfect opportunity to start the beef officially.
