read what i just posted. they delayed posting the actual ending chapter threads so people who actually play the game can see those threads when they finish. everyone at first brigaided what they thought were "the ending" threads, the actual ending threads seem quite positive so far
2 of the top posts yesterday were complaints of the game and were gilded too, so it's still pretty mixed
i'm not as much into gaming as i was when i was younger, but whenever a game gets bombed into oblivion, there's a reason for it. games which leave a lasting impression and relevancy are never the ones who get review bombed - the first mass effect, something like zelda or mario, etc.
I never really understood the hype for TLoU in the first place, but the game being review bombed doesn't necessarily mean it's bad per-se; I'm sure the game is a run of the mill AAA cinematic whatever. while you can just chalk it up to whatever buzzword angry mob online, realistically, the division between review scores and user scores is more representative of the game not resonating with audiences. i'm aware there are people who will leave a 0 review for a game containing gay people, but it's clearly more than that; dragon age, mass effect, fallout, etc. all have gay people and they aren't review bombed the same way. imo it's a kneejerk reaction to the overwhelming "praise" from journalists. someone called it the schindler's list of video games which is tone deaf and insulting. even polygon - which is very vehemently not associated with those anti-progressive type review bombes - basically said it was mediocre. so while i'm sure it's not a terrible game or anything, just keep in mind the dissonance between the context of it as a "masterpiece" by journalists and the actual game is probably going to make it seem far worse than it actually is

if you use money to gift someone reddit gold tho youre a confirmed loser tho
gonna gift ktt2 premium to everyone who confirms my bias
Its exactly on par quality wise with the first imo. Without bias, if you like the writing/gameplay in that then its more of the same
I'm not saying the entire game is poor writing and pacing, just abby parts and garage. At least abby parts prior to Lev and yara
too worried about foliage then the actual gameplay
lol
I think it's crazy grass in front of you while prone doesn't go like opaque to see through it when aiming
3% of people who own the game finised it
but there 30000 negative review already up on the first day and people hating it on forum twitter b****ing about the ending
go figure

If it's sold more than 1Mil those figures check out. But I still doubt most of those ppl have finished
The main tlou reddit has thousands of "NEW" members in the last 2 days, surprisingly or not they are the ones who are bashing the game in there.
it's not fine to rate a game you haven't played because you're disappointed by what you've heard about it, what the f*** are you talking about
Are you supposed to complete a 60 hour game before being able to say a game sucks?
Or finish a 20 episode TV show before you say it's crap? lol

no one said you have to complete but I'd expect someone to at least play some amount of the game before commenting on it
like sorry but I'm obviously not gonna value the opinion of someone who hasn't played it at all compared to someone who has played it, one of these opinions is a lot more valid/important

It's a story driven game. If the story angers them and the gameplay is just a more polished version of the game that preceded it, why pay $60 just to "at least play some amount of it."
You should be able to comment on it. Imagine never being able to crap on EA games or call out their frustrating practices because "you haven't bought it and haven't played some amount of it"
I’m about halfway through and it’s excellent so far, possibly better than the first game. They’d have to drop the ball hard in the second half for me to stop enjoying it

The post you were replying to was talking about people who've never even bought the game, and that's what you were talking about too.

I know, I was just backing up his point
Why are gamers/nerds so conservative?
These motherfuckers have limited social interactions so of course they're gonna be the last to catch up with changes to social norms

from what im reading, the thing that people hate happens in the first half? early on? so you might be in the clear

It had like 7k user reviews in like the first 12 hours after it came out and it's a 30 hour game. Maybe 10 of those users were giving their actual impressions. The rest were Xbox fans or "anti-SJW" who read a few out of context spoilers and think it's the greatest crime in gaming history. The user scores are not representative of the games quality
When I was growing up, we didn't just watch people play games and make judgments off that. You had to actually play the s***. Because graphics and cutscenes have become so integral to the experience, people take for granted that gameplay is an actual element of playing a game so they believe they can just rate s*** off leaks and YouTube clips.
Straight up, there is more to a game than the story, so rating an entire game based only on the story is f***ing stupid. I wouldn't even do that with actual movies. Acting, cinematography, score, editing, etc also matter.
This is, in part, a fault of modern game developers relying too much on cinematics. But it's mostly just people being lazy and entitled crybabies like always.
Dunkey the only review I'm taking seriously for this
taking dunkey reviews seriously

gameplay is the only one of those that needs to be played to experience. you can argue sound but even playing on tv wouldn't fully experience the full thing.
combat is better than the first game but it's not something crazy different my nigga
