You can skip this one unless you’re really interested in the premise or looking to waste 2 hours with a holiday themed thriller. Just know you’ll have to suspend disbelief to get the most out of it. Bateman was great as the villain he needs to do it more often.
Side note but the fight in the moving car is up there as one of the ugliest looking scenes even for Netflix standards

Was cool but working in an airport makes everything about this unbelievable
Brothers
Love the cast .. has Dinklage made anything good since Game of Thrones ???
It was entertaining to say the least

He voiced the goat in Wicked
He was also in another musical called Cyrano a couple years ago that I personally liked but the people I watched with found it boring
Anora
2.5/5
This is based on subsequent watches, but I thought the movie was fine. My favorite elements by far were how gorgeous it looked and the slick camera work. It is technically excellent. Mikey Madison is a star.
One or two bits of the film also made me chuckle, but I didn't find this as funny as other people did. Your mileage may vary. In terms of runtime, it didn't feel long after the goons appear, even though it didn't need to be that long (in fact, the first third was so tedious that I just start the movie after the Vegas marriage now). The soundtrack is awful, the characters 2-dimensional at best, and the Three Stooges act a bit jarring.
This film is a deluge of grim cynicism without anything profound to say about the industry it's depicting. Maybe that's the point, but Palme d'Or worthy? Not nearly. On second thoughts, Triangle of Sadness won and that film is so, so, so much worse.
The Florida Project
3/5
This was another okay film from Sean Baker. If I can sum up his filmmaking with this one, it's that he has a way of filming the mundane then adding a wrinkle later on that recontextualizes what you saw before.
Compared to Anora, this is less "casual-friendly" but at least with this one, I don't find the writing to be as actively grating to sit thru.
The cinematography is gorgeous. There were some shots that I had to rewind to take in, due to either some slick camera work or a beautiful sunset. Whoever did the cinematography knows what pops on camera. Juxtapose that with the barely-getting-by existence of the residents at the motel, and you've got something queasy to watch.
I'd compare the final 10 mins to the final stretch of Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, in that there was some genuine tension or distress that elevated the viewing experience, and much like OUATIH, the ending pissed me off.

This movie is the answer for those who didn't like Anora, and even if you did like it, this is a great watch. Aubrey Plaza, no notes
Andor (Season 1)
Finally came around on this, took me forever to finish it. My relationship with Star Wars is so wishy-washy
