i’m learning to drive at the age of 23. Wishing I did this years ago but I just never have
I practiced with my dad for an hour or two in a parking lot, didn’t even make it out on the road. Had my first lesson this morning and dude just made me go out on the road we started in the residential area near my house and then we moved out into main roads
Honestly, it’s a lot easier and less scary than I anticipated. Handling the car itself is nowhere near as difficult as it looks, thing just kinda does the work for you. It’s mostly road rules/ handling others in traffic that I need to practice with
Anyone else learn to drive at a late age or can give any advice? Hoping to have my license before my 24th bday in may, I think that’s a reasonable window of time
UPDATE : I PASSED
I got my license at like 22-23 and was a little nervous about it when I first started taking lessons. My first instructor was a d***head and was screaming all the time so I ditched him and got another one who was cool as hell. Passed my written and practical on the first try. But yeah after a while it becomes second nature and tbh there are people out there 30+ who still don't have a license so don't feel too bad about it.
Yeah dude you can get it around that time, its all about practice really
Right, I have plenty of time too. Kinda weird taking lessons during a pandemic but I really need to get this s*** done asap. i’m so restricted without a car. Feel like I’m wasting my 20s trapped at home
i have 3 1 hour lessons this week and will likely do another 3-4 next week as well

Manual or automatic?
I didn’t learn until after 21. I was in a crash when I was a kid and it had me kinda paranoid to drive even years after. Even being in the car with someone speeding use to have me shook. It’s really not as bad as expected when you get some good practice in. Every now and then I have a moment when I see a car tweaking but it’s never to the level it was at before. We all got different paths and life experiences that push back some things. That’s why I never clown someone for being 21+ with no car or L’s.
Only auto so far
Pffft bruh u got the license just practice. Manual is a pain at first but when u get the hang of it its fun af
i'm 22, but i started learning when i was 16 but never actually got my license. i'll go through phases where i'll drive a lot for a bit but then i get mad anxious/paranoid about being on the road and I stop for a while. I'll get it one day hopefully
Dont feel alone i got my s*** at 21. driving is weird to me. I have a love hate relationship with it. I can drive alone but when niggas get my ear backseat driving i get nervous af
im 25 aint got a license. been thinking abt getting one when I was your age, even tho I dont really like cars and especially owning/driving one in the city. seems like a huge pain, plus people on the road are complete f***os, idk how others hang in there. pops (been driving for 40+ yrs) told me once you feel like you really need one then go ahead, but not having it is no biggie

I feel you, niggas always got some s*** to say when you takin the bus
It's more common than you think, a lot of people that are in the cities rely on public transport and haven't bothered with a license yet.

just practice and enjoy it while you do, since you already said it's easier than you anticipated then I don't think you should worry at all, good luck bro
Still in the process of getting it,I have the final practical test on monday.
I used to be really nervous because my instructor was a d***head and i had a lot of anxiety because of that. But i managed to push through, and after the first practical that i failed my instructor died man.
So now i found a new one, totally different car, gonna see how im gonna do on Monday i guess
My s*** expired over covid and I sure as f*** wasn’t about to go stand elbow to elbow with dirty BMV people so I have to go through the entire testing process again
