I feel like it’s due to the divide between a***og musical equipment/synths and the transition to all-digital “soundfonts” in the late 90s/early 2000s

Both albums are products of their time production-wise but 2001 has aged regarding the cheesy bombastic sounds tbh

If you listen to the rap from that early-2000s era, you’ll notice those cartoonish and synthetic sounds and 2001 was definitely filled with them

Both albums are still amazing

The Chronic is my favorite rap album ever
